Get Amped | There's A New Cocktail Bar In Caloundra

By Claire Plush - 28 Sep 2016

Caloundra peeps, your afternoons, nights, and weekends are about to look totally different. Big call, you say. New bar, we say.

After all, it’s not every day a new watering hole opens in Caloundra… but tomorrow is one of those days.

Yep, if you’ve been spending all your sober waking hours dreaming about having a new spot to gather your faves and sip on cocktails, then you can count 26 Degrees as an official dream come true.

Tucked away in Rumba Resort, this white-washed poolside bar has had a complete makeover, and will be opening its doors to the public from tomorrow! You heard that right—this baby is not just reserved for the holidaymakers staying at Rumba, it’s also a bar for locals. Can we get a “whoop, whoop”?

So, if you were to do the smart thing and waltz into 26 Degrees over this coming long weekend, what could you expect? Well, if you’ve been to Rumba’s bar before, it’s now very, VERY different.

Over the past six weeks, 26 Degrees has transformed from a concept that looked good on paper, to a real-life Hamptons-esque bar that exceeded the expectations of the guys behind it.

Picture this: soft house music, white louvered windows looking out to the resort pool, white high back stools sitting pretty at a marble top bar, and a good dose of hanging planters.

Split into several areas, there’s a lounge area with plenty of cane armchairs for those solo sessions where you wanna read a book and reeeelax, a sleek timber bar complete with Bentwood stools for those cosy date nights, and a beer garden posi with a stunning green wall, custom-built benches, and its very own fast bar which will soon be pouring local Sunshine Coast brews like Your Mates. Hurrah!

For now, it’s all about the drinks—and with summery cocktails, craft beer, and shelves housing the likes of the French-inspired rosé “Pour Les Amour” from fashion power couple Dan and Bambi, you’ll be well looked after.

But soon enough there’ll be live music and DJs gracing the space too, so put a mark next to 26 Degrees for your summer sessions. Oh, and there’s even chatter of a small tapas-style menu to line the stomach a little, which we’re all for, because mojitos taste way better with a side of salt ‘n’ pepper squid, do they not?

As well as keeping you watered with delicious bevvies, these guys also make a mean cup of joe using beans from local coffee roaster, Stoker. Even better, they’ll be serving up two coffees for the price of one, for their first week in business. Srsly.

It’s all very holiday-vibing but that’s kinda what we love about 26 Degrees. Even if you live on the Sunshine Coast, spending an hour here will make you feel like you’re on a tropical staycation.

26 Degrees will be throwing open its doors to the public for the first time from 8am tomorrow (take note: 2-for-1 coffees!!), with cocktails, beers, and everything else being served from 10am ‘til late.

So, whether you’re after a new after-work drink spot, a thirst-quenching retreat from the beach, or a big enough space to gather your nearest and dearest for a Sunday de-brief, Caloundra’s newest bar has got you covered.

Now, go say a big fat “welcome” to the crew and tell ‘em we sent you!

When: Grand opening this Thursday at 8am. Then open seven days, 8am-late.
Where: Inside Rumba Resort, 10 Leeding Terrace, Caloundra
