Unless you tied us to our chairs, nothing was going to stop us from checking out the brand new shop belonging to one of the Sunshine Coast’s best coffee roasters.

It’s true! Kai Coffee, the locally-roasted coffee gurus have just opened their second store and uni students are going to be pretty pumped on the new location.

Tucked away in Sippy Downs, as part of the new development Harmony, Kai Coffee’s latest space is a timber pod-like building with a sprawling deck and a sleek, minimal interior.

We headed in for an early morning visit and are stoked to report the coffee is as good as you’ve come to expect from these guys. Offering filter, pour over and espresso, with both a house blend and a single origin available, you’d never go wrong ordering your wake-me-up caffeine hit from here. Of course, for non-coffee drinkers, there’s also other liquid fuels on the menu—from the usual tea culprits as well as iced chocolates and iced chai, to kombucha.

In the food department, for now it’s all about easy eats with pastries from Van Wegan’s (gah, their croissants!), wraps made daily by Nanny Jane’s, and raw, vegan desserts by Nessi-Nude Food. But, it ain’t always going to be like this. Come summer, Kai Coffee will be serving up acai and granola bowls plus avocado on toast, because nothing goes better with a cup of specialty joe than avo. #preach

And although it’s still a wee way off, there’s even talks of opening nights with a swag of craft beer, tacos, cheese boards and live music nights. Will it be worth the wait? We think yes!

To stay in the loop with everything coming up, hop on over to Kai Coffee’s Insta page and give ‘em a follow—they’ll love you for it.
