This is no ordinary weekend, people. It’s a looooong one and we have the best things to do on the Sunshine Coast to make it three days of pure F-U-N.
From night markets and retro festivals to a whole heap of Oktoberfest shenanigans, the next few days are shaping up to be pretty epic. You ready?
Friday, September 30
Marcoola Markets At (You Guessed It) Marcoola
We admit it, we preach about this night market a fair bit. But that’s ‘cause it’s totally up our eating alley. Every Friday night, a vacant block in the middle of this tiny town is lit up by strings of fairy lights and is overrun with loads of street food stalls, dishing up everything from dumplings and injectable doughnuts to Turkish gozleme and more-ish crepes. But be warned: we’re not the only ones who frequent this place, and stuff does sell out, so if you want to make sure you nab that plate of Mexican, you’d best be getting in early.
Twilight Markets At Caloundra
Another fave, albeit less frequent night market, Twilight Markets will be taking over the esplanade at Bulcock Beach from 5pm to 9pm. A mix of food, entertainment, and shopping, if you failed to get a babysitter for the kids, this would do the trick for a family date night.
Live Comedy At Nook And Cranny
Who doesn’t love that feeling when you’re almost wetting yourself but don’t want to get up to go to the toilet for fear of missing out on a cracker of joke!? What, just us? Either way, there’s a whole lotta laughs to be had at Nook and Cranny this Friday night as maverick comedian Dusty Rich kidnaps the microphone and belts ‘em out one after the other.
Caloundra Music Festival
The Caloundra Music Festival kicks off again this Friday and we’re pretty excited about the four-day line-up. Ladyhawke, Michael Franti and Spearhead, The Beautiful Girls, and The Black Seeds are just a few names that should make you wanna nab a couple of last-minute tickets.
Saturday, October 1
Seaside Scavenge At Mooloolaba
The name Seaside Scavenge doesn’t really do this event justice, so keep reading. Basically, this Saturday morning gathering is about cleaning up our beaches (and getting rewarded for it). You comb the sand at Mooloolaba, picking up litter, and then you get to exchange what you’ve collected (AKA your garbage tokens) for pre-loved clothes, books, bric-a-brac, or, thanks to our mates at Good Bar, BEER! Pretty neat, huh? There’ll also be live music and no doubt, some epic conversations taking place.
Oktoberfest Celebrations At 10 Toes Brewery
Stop whinging that you’re not in Germany this October, and get on down to 10 Toes Brewery for Oktoberfest done Sunny Coast-style. There’ll be beer, of course, and a traditional German feast featuring all of the comfort foods you’ve come to love. The fun starts at 3pm, so grab your pot-bellied mates and get there.
Oktoberfest At Black Bunny Kitchen
We can always trust the guys at Black Bunny Kitchen to jump on any kind of festivity that involves eating and drinking, and this is why we love ‘em. If you’re ready to celebrate with all the German classics, these guys will be putting them down from 3pm ‘til late. It may get messy, but just remember, you’ve got TWO whole days to recover. #blessedarethelongweekends
Down A Cup Of Joe For International Coffee Day
Alright, so this isn’t really an “event” but it’s a day that shines a light on something we hold very dearly—coooooffee. So, how do you say a big “happy international day” to the drink that makes it bearable to wake up at 5am? You sip it, sip it real good! And the best place to start is with our list of the best coffee shops on the Coast. But before you go in for the kill, find out what your coffee order says about you.
Kind of like our very own version of Cooly Rocks, this retro event is just another reason we’re falling for Nambour all over again. Go for the vintage caravans and cars, stay for the rockabilly bands and pin-up competitions. Got a mean machine yourself? Sign up for the Twilight Cruise (taking place on Friday night) and rev on!
Sunday, October 2
NRL Grand Final At The Post Office
Ticked off your Oktoberfest shenanigans and now want IN on the grand final action? Head over to The Post Office, dish out $59, and you’ll get a jam-packed, all-inclusive night of booze, pizza, and footy. It all starts at 6.30pm, so book your ticket online and be there!
Pig On A Spit At 26 Degrees
We’re going to forgive you if you haven’t heard about the brand new Caloundra bar 26 Degrees, after all, they only opened to the public this week. But this weekend is your chance to check it out in the flesh, and with cocktails being shaken and stirred around the clock, plus a pig on a spit, there’s really no excuse not to. Ya hear?
Noosa Beach Classic Car Show
Classic car lovers, do not let this event pass you by. Noosa is hosting their annual classic car show at Lions Park and at only 10 bucks entry (kids are free), it’s a cheapy but a goodie. With over 200 cars lined up for your perusing, there’ll be British and European classics, American muscle cars, and way, way more.
Sunday Sesh At Moffat Beach Brewing Co.
It’s pretty safe to say that sessions like this are our favourite thing about Sundays. Moffat Beach Brewing Co. are kicking off their ode to the best day of the week, with $5 schooners between 3pm and 5pm, plus live funk tunes thanks to Crane. And if that’s not enough to impress you, the sparkling views of Moffs will.
Oktoberfest At Noosa Boathouse
Just because we live on the other side of the world, doesn’t mean we should lose the right to celebrate Oktoberfest. Am I right or am I right? Thankfully, you can get your drank on in style at Noosa Boathouse, with the venue transforming into a German beer hall especially for the occasion. There’ll be a hearty three-course German meal plus litres of beer to be guzzled, so round up your mates, put some effort into your outfit (there’s prizes for best-dressed), and get Oktoberfest-ing.
The Basement’s First Sunday Session
Your Mates Brewing Co. are throwing their first official Sunday sesh at The Basement, and we know one thing: it’s going to be seriously fun. Take your wallet and load up on beer jugs, live tunes, and $10 rounds of a ½ kilo of drumsticks. Sounds like a mighty fine way to make Sunday feel like a Saturday.
Monday, October 3

Today is the day you’ve been waiting for. The one you normally don’t get unless someone like good ol’ Queeny is having another birthday. We’re here to help you make the most of it and point you in the right direction. You ready?
If you were one of the
boring smart ones who didn’t drink and so are definitely not still over the limit, jump in the car and check out these breathtaking scenic drives around the Sunshine Coast. Easily among some of the best (free) things to do on the Sunshine Coast.
