Loch is one of country Victoria’s truly great surprises. Technically it’s Loch Village, at least on the detour signs on the A440 (our inner cynic thinks they added the ‘village’ as a clever marketing ploy. Nothing called ‘village’ can be crap).
And this Sunday it’s playing host to the 11th annual Loch Food & Wine Festival.
If you’re gonna do one long drive this weekend, make it this one. Loch is gorgeous at any time of year, but during the food festival, the whole town erupts in market stalls, beer and wine tastings, pop-up restaurants and live music.
And some of Melbourne’s best are actually gonna be there. Palermo’s head chef Ollie Gould will be in the village, roasting a whole lamb over his asado fire pit (check that one out on the platform of Loch Railway Station).
There’ll also be cheese and wine masterclasses from Burke Brandon (Prom Country Cheese) and vino pro, Robert Hicks. And don’t forget to swing by the Loch Brewery & Distillery. They do a killer range of local gins.
The Loch Food & Wine Fest kicks off this Sunday at 10am. You can grab tickets over here. We’re already packing CC’s for the car...
