5 Epic Events You Need To Hit This Week

We’re down to the final countdown of summer, peeps. Yeah, so that doesn’t mean THAT much considering we’re more of a wet/dry season kinda place, and we pretty much invented the term “endless summer”.

But still, summer no more, means we’ve got to start saying “autumn”, which frankly doesn’t have the same je ne sais quoi that “summer” does.

Anyhoo, with just days of the greatest-season-ever left, we figured you’d want to make the most of it, and stuff those last February dates with a whole lotta things to do on the Sunshine Coast. So to help you out, we’ve rounded up five awesome events that are happening this week across the region. Poach as you please.

Meet The Maker | February 25

Possibly the best new food event around, Meet The Maker at Gainsbourg is a must for any real foodie looking for things to do on the Sunshine Coast. This time around, the Walton family of Biarra Glen Produce are taking the floor, with their produce showcased across an epic four-course dinner with drinks to match. Don’t expect: dishes you’d find in your weekly meal planner here. Do expect: lamb ragu with green fig and almond Israeli couscous. Seats are snapped up like Bentwoods at an op shop, so if you want to end February with a bunch of flavour bombs, you’d better get dialling. Perfect for those who want to know where their food is coming from!

Limited Run | February 27

A Noosa shindig you don’t wanna miss, Limited Run No.4 is happening this weekend. This exhibition is all about the good stuff—art, fashion, rock and roll…and pizza—pulling together the works of super talented Sunny Coast creatives in the one buzzy space. Time to get your part-ay shoes on, ‘cause this ain’t no boring art schmooze. Oh, and it’s BYO booze, so cram your pockets, bags, hats with your favourite drop, and get there!

Saturday Sesh | February 27

Good things come to those who wait, and in this case that’s us, guys, because The Pocket Espresso are back from their short hiatus to pump out tacos and beer every Saturday between 2pm and 5pm. For 20 bucks you’ll nab three soft tacos and a frosty one, making it one of the cheapest things to do on the Sunshine Coast of a weekend. Views of Moffat Beach come complimentary.

Drive-In David Bowie Tribute | February 27

There’s been plenty a tribute for Bowie since that sad day in January, but none on the Coast quite like this. Jump in your most beat-up car (it adds to the look, trust us), and head to Eumundi Showgrounds for a drive-in cinema experience that’ll have Bowie fans losing their shit. Seat bop to Bowie music videos before cult flick “Labyrinth” hits the screen. Popcorn, lollies and drinks will be available, but we’d also be taking a bottle of red and a cheese platter just for kicks. At just $20 a car, it can’t get much better.

Noosa Boathouse Summer River Festival | February 28

We love celebrating everything and anything. Start of summer, throw a party. End of summer, throw another party. And we’re definitely not complaining. Especially when they’re as relaxed as the Summer River Festival. If spending your Sunday on the shores of Noosa River downing craft beers, listening to chilled out live music, and munching street food, sounds like the perfect way to see out the Coast’s fave season, then this free event is totally your jam.
