6 New Spots To Hit This Weekend

As if we need another excuse to spend our weekends, eating and drinking—All. Day. Long—a handful of new cafes and restaurants come along showing off their insanely good food and coffee, and views, and we’d be fools not to take notice.

And so here we are, helping you keep up with the times by rallying together the best new Sunshine Coast restaurants and cafes for you to check out, just in time for the weekend.

El Capitano

All hail the 72-hour sourdough pizza bases whipped up at El Capitano. With live music on weekends, a cocktail list that needs to be drank, and some of the best pizzas on the Sunshine Coast, El Capitano has our vote for the newbie that’s swept in and found a well-deserved posi’ among those we rate as the best new Sunshine Coast restaurants.

Coco Loco Club

Coco Loco Club is the smoothie and acai bowl wonderland of the south. If you choose your smoothie like you do your horses on race day, aka by name, then realistically it’d be hard to overlook Halle Berry; a whizzed-up smoothie made up of all dem berries, banana, apple juice, coconut water, and natural yoghurt. With so many gems popping up in Moffat Beach, make a day of it and follow up brekky with a coffee at The Pocket, then a beer at Blackwater Trading Co.

MV Catalina

Our fave refurb to date, MV Catalina is cruising Noosa River with a whole new look. The best bit—other than that it’s a boat floating along Noosa River—is that you and your mates can jump aboard on the weekend for Saltwater Sundays, the ultimate Sunday sesh. Think: cocktails, DJs, and epic sunset views. More of a coffee sipper? Grab a hot cup of joe from the old ticket office turned Catalina café, and you can down it on MV Catalina when she’s parked up during the week.

CK Coffee Bar and Wholefoods

Keen to demolish some of the best breakfasts in Mooloolaba? Go check out CK Coffee Bar and Wholefoods. This new, delivishly healthy café sends out brekky feeds all day long, so there’s no need to worry about making it in time for cut off. We’ve already rated their piled-high Brekky Burger as one of the finest bacon and egg rolls on the Coast.

Nambour Social

Nambour’s getting all cool, and everybody knows it. With places like Nambour Social popping up, it’s so worth hopping in the car to grab one of the best breakfasts around. We’re totally taken with their eggs benny—yep, the hollandaise is made in-house—and their ham and cheese croissants complete with creamy béchamel. Exposed brick, pendant lights, and an open kitchen, give this new, small-town café an inner-city, industrial vibe.

Villain Espresso

After your brekky at Nambour Social, wander down to Villain Espresso for a hit of caffeine and everything vintage. Comfy couches, vinyls on repeat, street art, and gluten-free cakes, are all on offer at this backstreet espresso bar. Pumping out coffee from our friends at Guru Life, you can be sure the drop will be strong, smooth, and sultry. Plus, with Andri—owner and employee of every month—making it, you’re in safe hands.
