Ahhh, the contentious topic of who has the best pizza on the Sunshine Coast raises its pointy little head again.
Truth is we love pizza, like really loooove it, but we know you do too, which is why this list isn’t made of stone, peeps. For now though, these are the joints we’re rating as having the best pizza in and around Mooloolaba. Eat up!
Augello’s Ristorante and Pizzeria
Slice specialists will be stoked to hear they don’t have to jump in a time machine, and go back to Circa 2010 to try the best pizza of that year. ‘Cause you can still get your mitts on it, in Mooloolaba, at Augello’s. Oh Lordy! FYI, the pizza still in lights is the Hot Smoked Salmon featuring, you guessed it—salmon—plus a lot of other delicious tidbits on a dill and parmesan infused dough. Say what! Like to march to your own drum and shun award-winners? Go for the deliciously unique Wild Rocket & Pear pizza. You so cool, man!

Since Milan’s is “technically” in Buderim, it’s not “technically” in Mooloolaba. But every now and then, a place is worth blurring the lines (or suburb boundaries) for. Agreed? Good! Dishing up authentic Italian cuisine to a mainly local crowd for over 20 years (yep, this place is more like a flavour of the decades, than month), this unassuming restaurant makes insanely good pizza—try the seafood specialty of Mooloolaba king prawns and Hervey Bar scallops scattered over a herbalicious tomato sauce! Come bearing your own bottle of red, and you’ll get to drink it!

After a day at the beach, when you’re all fish and chipped out (it happens to the best of us), there’s no better way to carry on those weekend vibes, than with pizza. Walk your sunburnt feet off the sand and across the road to Via Italia on The Esplanade. These pizza maestros serve hand-stretched Napoli-style slabs of deliciousness. If spice is your friend, go the Diavaolo—Nduja Salami, tomato, chilli, basil, buffalo mozzarella, chilli jam, and habanero Tabasco. Oh la la!

Get your pizza party started at home with a quick visit to this North Buderim takeaway shop. With a reputation that screams best pizza on the Sunshine Coast (hello countless Best Pizza in Queensland awards), Fratelli’s is a fave fellow in the Italian-loving circles. If people always say that your eyes are bigger than your stomach (ptfff, what do they know), then whatever you do, don’t go the HOG size. Hear us? Steer away from the HOG… And by the way, that’s totally code for—order the HOG. If only for the shiggles.

Chances are you’ve driven past(a) Cala Luna a thousand times on your trek from Mooloolaba to Maroochydore, but you just didn’t notice it. Hidden on the first floor of an apartment block, this is THE local secret we didn’t really want to share, but kinda feel obliged to. Know what we mean? Bookings here are essential, and whilst a big chunk of that fan base is founded on the super friendly service given by the owners Rita and Osvaldo, it really comes down to the food. And the pizza, well it’s more than enough to keep devotees of the triangle slice happy.

You’ll need to jump in the car to get to this pizza haven, but it’s super close to Mooloolaba and worth the five-minute drive! Tucked away in Buddina, behind Kawana Shoppingworld, All’ Antica serves up pizzas worth their weight in cheese. Our pick? How could you go past a pizza with balsamic roasted pork belly, chili plum sauce, and roasted peppers? You can’t. Not without committing some kind of foodie sin.
