Food Truck! Fooooood Truck! Those annoying people who commentate the obvious happenings in life…that’s us when we spot a food truck.
We know it’s not cool to get excited about, well, anything really, but there’s something about a food truck that just gets us going. So, like the devout food truck lovers we are, we lined up at windows across the region to bring you this list of the best food trucks on the Sunshine Coast.
Here’s what we found:
Maribelle’s Street Food
We’re still not sure if it’s the jet black van, the plant box stuffed with bright blooms, or the food that’s got us going back to Maribelle’s Street Food. Alright, so we know it’s totally the food, but the other stuff helps too! Introduce yourself to the Maribelle experience by ordering one of their Bahn Mi Rolls. It’ll be love at first bite!
The Good Food Fellas
With a menu that changes daily, there’s no way you’re going to get bored with the plates coming out of this chef-run Sunshine Coast food truck. The Good Food Fellas use locally sourced produce to create some of the best street food going ‘round, with South African and Asian influences dominating the menu. Serving food and drinks from 8am to 2pm every Saturday at Shelly Beach in Caloundra, think Chinese Egg Roll Omelette with pork belly, or Mobster Fries with smokey pulled beef, mornay sauce, and bacon. Drool…
This little lime green and white Sunshine Coast food truck isn’t about the frills (although its cute “sliders” bunting definitely ticks the cute box), and that’s why we love it. It’s inside the Blissful Belly van, where the real magic happens. Serving up lovingly prepared food for the soul, you’ll find gourmet sliders with fillings like Indian pakora with mango chutney, and beef with blue cheese aioli, on their blackboard menu. Craving something light? These guys also dish up incredible an incredible Moroccan salad.
The Sprouted Kitchen
Ermagerd, we don’t even know where to begin, but this is definitely one of the best food trucks on the Sunshine Coast. Two sisters rocking an aqua caravan-turned pop-up kitchen, serving up gigantic slabs of gourmet salad. And they even bring plants to decorate the outside. So cute! We stopped by The Sprouted Kitchen when they pulled up at Food Truck Alley outside The Urban Garden in Maroochydore. What’s for lunch? Pulled pork and an ancient grain roast vegetable salad with almonds, feta and a pomegranate dressing. Food coma! And we don’t even feel one bit guilty about it.
Don’t be fooled—these are not just any old tacos. With a passion for Mexican, Central and South American cuisine, plus plenty of experience cooking home-style Asian, Puerto Taco creates fusion dishes that are devilishly delicious. If you hunt these guys down, make sure to try one of their Ensenada-inspired fish tacos. Ready for round two? We’re loving The Banh-Mex, with homemade chorizo on a Viet bun topped with pickled carrot, radish, and a bunch of other tasty trimmings. Holy Guacamole!
