7 Awesome Things To Do On The Sunshine Coast This February

Alright, kids. We’re in to the last month of summer, which totally calls for upping your socialising skills to “expert” and getting to these February events.

Why? Well, it’s definitely not because the weather is cooling down like most normal states and we’re about to go into hibernation. But it could be because, y’know, summer soirees just have a special (albeit sweaty) feeeeel to them. Do one, do all! These are the best things to do on the Sunshine Coast this February…

Industry & Hospo Soirée No.2 | February 4

If you miss Thursday night’s soiree, then you’re going to have to wait a whole month for the next one. Heartbreaking, we know, but that’s why you’ve gotta drop everything to get to El Capitano at 9.30pm for cocktails, free roaming pizzas, and funkin’ beats by DJ Dave Dog and Solafreq.

Homegrown’s Seasonal Dinner | February 6

Homegrown Cafe Palmwoods’ seasonal dinners have somewhat of a coastal cult following, so if you want to lock in a seat at February’s event, you’d better get dialling stat! On the menu this time around is carrot and coriander soup with fresh labneh, served with figs, cumin, and caramelised onion flat bread. And that’s just the entrée! To see what’s cookin’ for the main meal or dessert, check out their Facebook page. This event is must if you’re looking for things to do on the Sunshine Coast this month.

Chinese New Year at Embassy XO | February 11

So we took the courtesy of rounding up the best yum cha on the Sunshine Coast, but we didn’t get to spread the word about a pretty spesh event happening especially for Chinese New Year. Embassy XO is hosting a three-course wine dinner for $85 per hungry head. It’s not super cheap but once you’ve dined here, you’ll understand why.

Flickerfest | February 12

Who doesn’t love a good short film? With super short attention spans, it makes watching a movie fun instead of a “but I want to go to sleep” chore. For 18 bucks you’ll be treated to the best Australian short films from this year’s festival as part of The Best of Australian Shorts tour. So grab a film buff buddy, stuff your mouth with popcorn, and make like you’re a critiquing boss.

Her Wardrobe | February 13

So you loooooove shopping but adulting has hit your clothes budget hard. What’s a girl to do? We know! This February the “best fashion market” is showering the Coast with pre-loved and brand-spanking-new clothes, shoes, and accessories. Hop from stall to stall at the Lake Kawana Community Centre and you’ll leave with bags of goodies, and still be able to pay this month’s rent/mortgage/tent-site. Make sure you hit the ATM beforehand, as this fashion haul will be utter heaven for the fashionista hanging for things to do on the Sunshine Coast.

Lamkin Lane Live | February 26

Have you checked out Lamkin Lane Live yet? Held from 5pm to 10pm on Friday, it’s the perfect spot to rock up after work to gorge on street food from the Coast’s best food trucks. There’s also artworks to browse at the pop-up gallery, and live tunes to vibe to from local musicians.

Stomp Fest | February 27

Wine aficionados and foodies better shake it on up to Montville come the end of the month or risk missing out on one of the quirkiest things to do on the Sunshine Coast. Flame Hill Vineyard’s annual grape stomp—yep, you actually, like ACTUALLY, stomp grapes—is a-happening. With a live jazz band, lots of incredible wine for the drinking, and a cocktail-style degustation (go the Corporate Deck ticket, for this one).
