It’s only February, and Brisbane has already undone her belt buckle, giving us yet more choice when it comes to filling our bellies and spending our hard earned cash.
It’s actually pretty hard to keep up with Brisbane’s ever-growing pace; one minute we’re sipping almond lattes in Newstead, next minute we’re chowing down on America’s finest exports in some back alley in The Valley. It’s a tough gig, really, but someone has to do it.
With all this shiny newness appearing, we thought we’d share our faves with you. Check out 8 of the best new openings in Brisbane!
Todd & Pup | Moorooka
Having recently moved into brand new digs, Todd & Pup are championing some pretty impressive eats for southside locals. Hats off to their eggs benny, and the fact that their vego options are as good as—if not better—than their meaty companions.
Mister Fitz | Fortitude Valley
As if we needed another excuse to indulge in our favourite food group, Mister Fitz is cranking out the kind of ice-cream sandwich you’d give up your firstborn for. They’re also open late seven glorious days a week (pyjamas are not suitable dress code, FYI), so you can basically get your fix at any time of day or night. Joy!
The APO | Fortitude Valley
From the legends that brought us Laruche, and Gerard’s Bistro and Bar, comes your new fave Valley hang. Occupying some sweet realestate in Bakery Lane, The APO is serving up modern Aussie bites with a Mediterranean twist, perfect for post-work nightcaps and nibbles.
Saccharomyces Beer Cafe | South Brisbane
South of the river is really having a moment, and with Saccharomyces Beer Cafe opening its doors in Fish Lane, this beer hall-style bar is the ideal spot to kick back with your best chums and a frosty or two.
Atalanta Bar and Greek | Portside
We’ve been crying out for high-end Greek cuisine round these parts, and NKOTB, Atalanta had a lot to live up to. Bringing authentic yet modern (oh, and totally gorgeous!) Greek cuisine to Brisbane, it does not disappoint. Opa!
Mr Henderson’s | Sandgate
A game-changer for the suburban bar scene, Mr Henderson’s is the kind of local you dream of popping up on your local high street. With a dangerously good list of cocktails and a small, but delicious tapas menu, they even let you BYO your own food! We think we’re in love.
Barbara | Fortitude Valley
Bringing pared back cool to the Valley, if Barbara were your pal she’d be the kind of gal you’d hang with on the regs. From expertly created cocktails, craft beers and DJ sets most nights, this cute young thing is breathing new life into Brissy.
Clickon Furniture | Fortitude Valley
Our Victorian chums have been decorating their homes with Clickon Furniture’s uber-cool pieces for years now (a recent gig on The Block has thrown these guys mainstream), and we’re pleased as punch Brisbane now has a showroom all of its own. Credit cards at the ready folks!
