We hate to admit it, but we have to (albeit a little begrudgingly) tip our hats to our southern sister. Considered the early adopters of this fine nation, Melbournians are known for their next-level food scene, and food trucks are a huge part of this incredible diversity.
Now don’t get me wrong, Brisbane in the last few years has been giving Melbs a solid run for its money when it comes to some impeccable dining establishments, and we LOVE a food truck as much as the next food-loving ‘grammer, but they have one thing we don’t have; a big fat food truck park (cue audible gasps).
When we found out that the creators of Melbourne food truck park icon, Welcome To Thornbury were bringing their wildly successful food truck park idea to Brisbane, let’s put it this way, we took notice.
Picture Brisbane’s crème de la crème of the food truck scene, all huddled together nightly in a custom-designed space where you can eat and drink to your heart’s content—the mind boggles, and the tummy rumbles.
Taking over the Brisbane Showground’s Dairy Hall and Sugar Building mid-February 2018, Welcome to Bowen Hills will be a very welcome addition to King Street’s burgeoning dining scene.
Chock full of daily rotating food trucks from some of Brisbane’s best, Welcome to Bowen Hills will also be home to a permanent bar (serving up cocktail jugs, local craft beer and wine) plus luxe gin bar, Swill, and will be open late to take full opportunity of our glorious balmy evenings.
How we’ve gotten this far without this kind of access to our fave foodstuffs is beyond us. All we can say is, roll on Feb 2018!
