You may know them from their Hillcrest location on Brisbane’s southside, or maybe even their OG Melbourne spot, but Croix Croissant has finally blessed the inner city with their goods and we could not be happier. Landing in Newstead, this decadent bakery crafts not only the pastry classics, but also the flavourful crookies and cruffins that are all-the-age at the moment, plus a few signature creations that are a must try. 

Who knew that tucked away in a suburban corner of Holland Park you’d find Brisbane’s best gourmet sandwich joint? The folks at Wilbur’s General Store are the south side sandwich savants serving up quality coffee, sweet treats and, of course, delicious sandwiches from what used to be an old corner store, and, even if you’re not a local, they are worth the drive.

You’ve probably been to many a French patisserie in your time, but how about an Italian pasticceria? Woolloongabba’s newest bakery is just that, a buzzing, Italian-inspired bakery from a seasoned hospitality duo—Matteo Cerin (the pastry chef) and Giuseppe Caputo (a front-of-house superstar). 

Just in: Good news for the inner city folk—Croix Croissant is opening in Newstead. Landing at 68 Commercial Road any day now, the crew are just waiting on council approval to open the doors on their second Brisbane location. Stay tuned for a look inside when they open...

Tucked away in Burpengary, just a little north of Brisbane, Aldo's Patisserie is worth the drive for indulgent treats that will satisfy any craving. Whether you are down for something sweet or savoury, Aldo's has you covered—with menu items like zesty lemon baked cheesecakes, fresh quiches, pulled beef brisket pie and decadent chocolate ganache tarts.

Craft butcher Peter Augutus is one of those butchers where you know you’re always going to get a good quality product. Family-owned by Australian beef and cattle company Stanbroke, the name pays tribute to the late patriarch Peter Menegazzo, and one of Stanbroke’s vast cattle stations in northern Australia, Augustus Downs Station. The combination of the two tells of both the company’s legacy and their cattle’s prime grazing country, ensuring you’ll only end up with the best cuts of meat on your plate.

Get excited northsiders (especially those of you that are gluten-averse), because Nodo Donuts, Brisbane’s iconic slinger of gluten-free, baked donuts, has opened its ninth store, and this one is on the north side. While we’ve been able to get our fix at kiosks in Chermside and North Lakes for a while, this is the first dedicated Nodo cafe for the north side, and it comes complete with stunning terracotta tiled designer interiors and an outdoor seating area with picnic tables under white umbrellas. 

Good Things Grocer has brought some sweet Northern Rivers charm up the highway to the southern ‘burbs of Brisbane. This culinary haven is housed in the old Tarragindi Fruit Barn, bringing the iconic corner store back to life. They just don’t make supermarkets like this anymore, filled with small-batch producers and regional farm goodies, where you’re not just shopping, you’re uncovering the story of where your weekly groceries came from. 

Opening on 12 October is C’est Du Gâteau, Brisbane’s newest French bakery and patisserie. Landing on Grey Street in South Bank, this heavenly spot comes to us from two French pastry chefs, Sebastien and Fred, who’ve worked their way around Europe and Brisbane, and are now keen to share their croissant-making skills with the South Bank masses. 

Southern chefs seem to be moving to the Sunshine State at an unheard of rate, and the latest to join the crowd is Martin Boetz, the ex-executive chef of Melbourne’s (and Sydney’s, before it closed) iconic Longrain. Brisbane-born, Boetz has returned to his home city with a bang, opening a new Thai restaurant and deli in the heart of the Valley, Short Grain. 

There’s nothing we love more than an aesthetically pleasing venue with a dining menu to match, and the CBD’s The Wolf is ticking all those boxes and then some. Part deli, part providore, part wine store, with a restaurant and bar involved as well, the gourmet destination is owner Fabian Rebelo’s second foray into the Brisbane hospitality scene, the first being Queen Plaza’s Stanton Cafe & Bar. 

Rise Bakery is one of the Gold Coast’s best bakeries, having opened in early 2022 and quickly garnering a loyal following—and now it has come to Brisbane. Landing at Portside Wharf in Hamilton, this next-level French pastry emporium is dishing out French classics such as pain au chocolat, baguettes and—of course—absolutely cracking croissants, alongside a selection of danishes, slices, quiches and other moreish baked goods. 

Just got back from Greece and longing for more of that rich, hearty, homestyle cooking? Well Woolloongabba’s newest eatery is here to sate your cravings, with a menu of classic Greek dishes that have been passed down for generations. 

Listen up Brissy, a new patisserie is in town and it does not disappoint. If you’re in the mood for some sweet and savoury treats then Beurre Pastries has everything you need to satisfy your cravings. Located on Park Road in the heart of Milton, we guarantee the high-end artisanal patisserie will have you drooling and running back for more. 

Craving something to satisfy your sweet tooth? Look no further than The Wheat House, an Asian-style bakery filled with delectable sweet and savoury pastries and bread. Located in the heart of Runcorn, the newly opened bakery serves up an assortment of delicious breads and toasts, including ham and cheese toast, tuna toast and a range of Asian centric breads.  However, the real winner to get your hands on are their cubed croissants. 

If you’ve driven through Chapel Hill recently and come across a large line of people cueing outside a little bakery, there’s a good chance you spotted Gathered Bakers. This humble village bakehouse has swiftly made a name for itself within the local community since opening in 2022, and there’s no question as to why they’ve become so quickly admired once you try any of their delectable artisanal treats.

Brisbane’s best butcher is going for a secondary title of Brisbane’s best sandwich bar with the opening of Eat At Billy’s, which comes to us from the team behind the legendary Meat At Billy’s. Located ight next door to the Rosalie butcher, this sandwich spot is the fruition of years of thinking, dreaming and planning from owner Billy Gibney, with surprisingly good timing on the opening considering Brisbane’s current obsession with all things between two slices of bread. 

There's no doubt we love an aesthetic bakery, and Mis.Spelt ticks all the boxes for 'grammability and then some. A new purveyor of baked goods from the team behind Blackout right next door, this pastel pastry palace has made its home in a hole-in-the-wall spot on the corner of Latrobe Terrace and Collingwood Street.

City workers who like to start their morning with a coffee and a pastry rejoice—iconic croissanterie Lune has opened a second Brisbane location in the CBD. While the new bakery in Burnett Lane is smaller than their OG South Brisbane spot, it’s still dishing up the same flaky goodness you know and love. 

Situated inside Craft’d Grounds, Albion’s new foodie precinct, Doughcraft is hard to miss thanks to the aroma of freshly baked goods wafting from their doors. As well as getting your mouth salivating, Doughcraft is a visual delight as well, thanks to glass walls which allow you to see into the preparation area. 

If you haven't heard of Lisboa Caffe, you're clearly not as addicted to Portuguese custard tarts as we are.

You might think you have to traverse continents to find the world's best croissants, but actually you'll find Lune Croissanterie serving up just that (well, according to the New York Times, anyway) in South Brisbane. 

As you walk in to Mr Badgers, you can’t help but notice the massive red and white tram taking up half the indoor space. Hand built by one of the owners, the tram was inspired by the venue's namesake, Joseph Badger, an electical engineer who electrified Brisbane's tram network in the late 1800s. Don’t think this quirky eatery is all style and no substance though, because the food here is seriously next level. 

Residing in a converted Queenslander house, Paddington Social is quickly becoming a Brisbane institution. Delicious food, housemade pastries, unrivalled ambience and a damn good coffee to wash it all down—this place will not disappoint. 

No more lines out the door: James Street's iconic Agnes Bakery is officially closing its doors this weekend, meaning you only have a very limited time to get your hands on their cult-favourite pastries, rolls, kouign-amanns and more. 

Oat milk on tap, self-serve nut butters and over 500 different cheeses are just the begining of what Harris Farm Markets has to offer. Starting their Queensland presence in Clayfield late last year, the gourmet food market has expanded to West End in a bigger and better fashion. In West End at West Village you'll find the Harris Farm Markets flagship Queensland store and their second biggest store in Australia. Family owned, the store is known for it's local produce and massive range. 

While the front bar of Eleven Bridges is a pretty good spot to nab a perch, we suggest cruising straight through and down the hallway lined with old record album covers to find their secret lounge out the back. Fitted with cosy couches and quirky antiques, we have a feeling you’ll instantly feel at home once you take a seat.

The old saying "you don't make friends with salad" can officially be put to rest, with Brisbane's best purveyors of the stuff, Botanica, opening their fourth location in Hawthorne on 25 January, meaning they've got every side of Brisbane covered in the side dish department. Not that these salads should be anything but a main—and if you've yet to sample the joys of Botanica's kale and crouton number you'll soon agree that humans and salads can be very best of friends. 

200 kinds of cheese. That's what you'll find in the dairy section at Clayfield's new Harris Farm Markets, the first of two Brisbane stores from the iconic NSW-based grocer, with a second store to open in West End next year. The family-owned store has finally made its way to Queensland, bringing its reputation for fresh, local and seasonal produce with it, as well as the biggest selection of cheese you've ever seen.

Newly landed in Sunnybank's Market Square, Bloom Patisserie is a wonderland of sweet treats and baked goods. Taking up residence on the second level, the dreamy, pastel cafe features floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the streets below, but you won't be looking outside—you'll be too busy staring wide-eyed at the desserts in front of you.

Coming out of a hole-in-the-wall spot in Mt Gravatt, Dough Ma doughnuts are some of the fluffiest, most cream-filled doughnuts you'll find in all of Brisbane, and they come in more flavours than you can imagine. Walk up to their counter and you'll be treated to the sight of an array of rainbow-coloured round doughnuts filled with sweet whipped cream in flavours like strawberry cheesecake, jam and cream, tiramisu, cookies and cream, iced coffee and pistachio—and that's just the beginning.

After a Hollywood-esque makeover, West End’s oldest pub is looking fresh, fine, and ready for your dining pleasure. Whether you’re sinking those Sunday afternoon woes over a beer at the Public Bar or settling in with a rosé in the open-air Backyard, The Boundary Hotel has learned more than a few new tricks.

Vintage shopping in Paddington and in need of a pick-me-up? Stop by Sweethearts Cupcakes, where you'll find cabinets full to bursting with an array of cupcakes in decadent flavours. 

Part butcher, part grocer, part grill, part cafe, Amin's Butcher and Grill is a modern, friendly butcher where you can not only buy high quality meats to take home, but also get your chosen protein cooked up right next door to eat on the spot. 

Formerly an online store delivering deliciously sweet canelés and cakes around Brisbane, Bella & Tortie now has a bricks and mortar location in the Grange, where you'll find an array of delectable baked goods so enticing you won't be able to choose just one. 

After a devastating fire which gutted this iconic Italian spot in 2019, the New Farm Deli & Cafe is back, with a new modern look but the same delicious array of cured meats, pastas, cheeses, baked goods and Italian sandwiches they've been serving to Merthyr Village locals since 1977. 

If you never got acquainted with the pie baking crew from Pie Town when they were a pop-up store at Wandering Cooks, then you've never felt the joy of biting into the flakiest, butteriest, most perfect pie crusts in all of Brisbane. It's time to rectify that. Thanks to a permanent new cafe in West End, you can now sample their pies all day, every day, which could be a good or a bad thing, depending on how much self control you've got. 

Get ready to sip cocktails in a tinsel wonderland at Brisbane’s most Instagramable new bar and event space, The Tinsel Bar. This immersive tinsel paradise is serving up childhood nostalgia with a side of cocktails—for those of us who wanted to grow up too fast but now wish they were a kid again. The colourful venue is a collaboration between the brains behind Hello Please and Maeve Wine, Maris Cook, and the tinsel queen herself, Rachel Burke—who you might recongise as the creator of the dazzling tinsel jackets that have adorned the shoulders of Kesha. It’s fair to say, she knows how to do tinsel. 

Locals on the east side of Brisbane can finally start to understand the inner city's obsession with salad with the news that cult salad bar Botanica has opened its third location over in Camp Hill. After the immense popularity of both the Red Hill and Newstead locations it’s high time east siders got a taste of their impressive salads, and it probably won't be long before they're as addicted to kale as the rest of us. 

Quite possibly the most Instagrammable cafe outside of Brisbane (this beauty resides on the Gold Coast and is SO worth the day trip), Paddock Bakery melts our hearts with every visit.

It's pretty regular to hear us waxing lyrical about another new cafe opening in Newstead, but it's not everyday that it comes from one of the most prolific names in Brisbane. From the team at Jocelyn's Provisions comes Short Order, their gorgeous new cafe and deli at Haven in Newstead.

Jocelyn's Provisions in Fortitude Valley is one of Brisbane's most celebrated and beloved artisan patisseries. Their beautiful flagship store has undergone a stunning transformation and now resides down the achingly cool Ada Lane, off James Street.

The Stores Grocer at West End might just be the best kept secret on Brisbane’s food scene. It’s a busy food den with an aura of abundance, neatly tucked into a stunning architectural heritage space on Montague Rd. A team of chefs gets busy each day in an open kitchen stocking a deli section with fresh in-store-made pastas, cakes, salads and spectacular sandwiches you can have on site with locally roasted Fonzie Abbott coffee in the leafy café or take home.

Do you love all things baked? Is the perfect loaf of crusty bread your idea of heaven? Among Brisbane bakeries, Banneton is adored for its wide array of artisan breads, pastries, macarons and cakes. For the wheat senstive, Banneton also makes an exquisite spelt sourdough and some delightful gluten-free delicacies. They pride themselves on their natural ingredients, and not using artificial improvers or additives. Their large facade is hard to miss on Balaclava Street in Woollongabba, Brisbane.

Rosalie Gourmet Market is gourmet provisions heaven. Tucked away on Baroona Road in Rosalie they boast high-quality foods from around the world, as well as the best local produce.

The bakery behind the delicious pastries of New Farm's Chouquette, Newmarket's Crust & Co have opened their doors to Brisbane's public, and we are more than a little excited about it.
