Gnocchi Served In A Pizza Base Bowl Is Carb-Loaded Heaven!

First there was pasta tossed in a massive cheese wheel, then there were dessert tacos and now the trend we’ve all been waiting for has arrived: gnocchi served in a pizza base bowl. Think comforting potato nuggets of love, gooey cheese, freshly made sauce and a generous dash of herbs all served in a bowl of pizza—food of the gods. We’re not drooling, you’re drooling.

The minds behind the trend are the team over at Gemelli Italian, the iconic Broadbeach-based Italian restaurant famous for their hand-crafted gnocchi and pizza. Obviously they’ve decided the world needed a combination of the two and, let’s be honest, we couldn’t agree more.

The gnocchizza bowl (we're trying something here) allows you to choose whatever type of gnocchi you want from Gemelli’s menu, which is then lovingly poured into a hand-stretched, wood-fired pizza base shaped into a bowl. That you can eat. DREAM.

Gemelli’s gnocchi menu includes such gems as roasted pumpkin gnocchi with pine nuts, sage and cream gnocchi slathered in pomodora sauce, topped with mozzarella and basil and cooked in a wood-fire oven. Carb on carb is our kind of dish...

Gemelli Italian has restaurants in Sorrento, Broadbeach and Nobby Beach so you can combine the best beach getaway ever with one epic dinner. Or, like us, you could keep your calorie-loving fingers crossed that this mouth-watering trend will soon make its way to our fair city. We can dream, guys, we can dream.

Love wacky food trends as much as we do? Have you heard about the toasted Nutella ice cream burger?
