That’s right, October's end is fast approaching and with it comes the most important sporting fixtures for hardcore quidditch fans: the Australian Quidditch Championship. (If you don’t know what quidditch is then this won’t seem terrible important, but for anyone who grew up in the 90s and beyond this is a big deal. Yuge.)
If this gets you excited then prime your palate and get around some of the events happening this month, notably the Quidditch State of Origin. This series sees three state teams battle it out on the pitch for the widely coveted State Shield and the title of baddest asses.
Come along on Saturday 14th October and get around the action as the Victorian Leadbeaters, the NSW Blue Tongues and the Queensland Thunderbirds compete in a round robin tournament to determine the next day’s contenders. Sunday 15th sees the top two teams trade deft passes in an all-out battler over three rounds to win the State of Origin series.
If at the end of the tournament you find yourself still riding high on the ball-lobbing thrills, make sure you hit up the social on Sunday evening at Copperface Jack’s.
