The Press Club & Hargreaves Hill Launch a GPA
When it comes to life-long dreams, you have to admit that there's not much cooler than having your very own beer. Adding yet another feather to his chef's hat, George Calombaris—the brains behind Gazi, The Press Club, Hellenic Hotel, and heaps of other Greek-inspired venues— has created a Greek-inspired pale ale (GPA) based on a white IPA and brewed at the Yarra Valley in the Hargreaves Hill brewery. The new brew will be served exclusively at Melbourne CBD venues The Press Club and Gazi.
The Press Club's experimental kitchen, Press Club Projects is hosting an exclusive degustation tonight, where the Hargreaves Hill GPA will be matched to six courses of mouth-watering food.
With a focus on the sweet spices used in Greek Easter bread, the ‘GPA' is likely to be a hit with pale ale lovers who are keen on something fruity but won't give you a kick in the face. We hear it goes pretty damn well with a slice of saganaki too…
2 Brothers Launch Their Walter White Beer
A beer that's been aged in a gin barrel? You're god damn right 2 Brothers are brewing that. The brewery's latest concoction the Walter White will be on hand to sample, no moustache or bowler hat required.
This crazy chemistry experiment comes to Melbourne's drinkers thanks to Four Pillars Distillery, who generously donated their old barrels to the 2 Brothers team. The barrels were then filled with beer, resulting in the Imperial White Ale that's got one hell of a kick.
Get to 2 Brothers Brewery from midday on Friday 5 August for a fresh pour, and stick around for live music from Milano's Brass Clad Duo playing live music from 7.30pm onwards.
