5 Melbourne Date Ideas That’ll Get You A Second Date

Oh hey there, you budding love birds! Dating can be a bit of a boring old game – dinner is great and all, but we’re here to help you step it up a notch. Here are our top five picks that are certain to get you a second date.

1. Go Grape Stomping

A fan of wine but not a fan is awkwardly sitting face-to-face going through 20 questions? Newly opened Noisy Ritual is the perfect solution. It’s Melbourne’s first people-powered urban winery. If rolling up your pants and stompin’ grapes doesn’t break the barrier, then there’s not too much hope for you two love birds. Have a laugh, get messy and let date number two roll on.

2. The Zoo

I’ve long been an advocate of The Zoo date. Working on the same premise as Noisy Ritual, the zoo provides an activity where you constantly have something to talk about. You’re walking, talking, and if all goes to plans, having a little hand hold at the meerkats. #babysteps.

3. A Yarra Valley Road Trip

Ok, so not necessarily first-date material, but it will definitely cement another date. No need to turn it in to a full-blown weekend away. Skip up to the Yarra Valley, pop in for a flight of gin at Four Pillars, say hi to the wombats at Healesville Sanctuary and head in to Innocent Bystander for some tapas and moscato. Be a gentleman and offer to be designated driver and you’re home and hosed for another date.

4. A Wine Bar Tour

This doesn’t need to be all about getting boozy. Plan a little walking tour of an area with plenty of options. It’s essential that you know where the places are and what their deal is if you want too look schmick. We recommend the Gertrude Street precinct – Marion Wine Bar, Moon Under Water, and Le Bon Ton for a super relaxed closer should do the trick. This shows you’ve put in some thought and keeps the night interesting.

5. NGV Exploring

The NGV always has an excellent selection of exhibitions. If you’re a little hesitant to lock yourself in for a night-time date, spend your Saturday afternoon wandering around the NGV’s latest exhibition. It’ll give you a chance to chat with out the awkward eye contact. Extra points for quirkiness–book in to a sketching class and have a post-drawing laugh about your supreme artiste skills.
