Good news, butterholics. You know those Fitzroy queues outside Lune Croissanterie every Saturday morning? They’ll soon be snaking their way through the CBD.
That’s because Lune is planning to open a new store...in the city centre.
If that sentence doesn’t give you mild heart defibrillations, we’re guessing you’ve never tried a Lune croissant before. They're widely regarded as the pinnacle of croissant technology.
Head baker Kate Reid (a former race car engineer) forges these things every morning at dawn in a climate-controlled, glass super lab—laminating, shaping, proofing and baking everything by hand. The NY Times even speculated that they might be the “world’s best”. We’ll save you the Parisian leg work—they are. They bloody are.
The details on the new CBD store are still sketchy at this point. According to Good Food, Lune will be moving into their new CBD digs this year, pending a new lease. It won’t be a James Bond lair like their current home—think more takeaway pastries and coffees, cooked in Fitzroy, then driven into the city.
We’ll keep you updated as more news comes in. Lune is notorious for playing their cards pretty close to the chest.
The bakery treats keep coming: we just rounded up Melbourne's best hot cross buns for 2018.
