Returning with a new showcase featuring over 500 (five HUNDRED) interactive silk lanterns, if you only leave the comfort of your home for one event this winter – make it the Dandenong Festival of Lights.
Including lanterns that measure in at 15 metres in height and extend over 20 metres in width, these towering light displays will celebrate the vibrancy of Chinese culture. Promised displays include terracotta warriors, the Chinese Zodiacs, playful elephants and multi-coloured peacocks. Because nothing kills winter blues like the sight of glowing peacocks in a park. A stunning display inspired by Beijing’s Temple of Heaven (because some people have too much talent) is another highlight of this highly anticipated festival.
Live performances including lion costume dancing and drumming will feature every night. If you’re feeling chilly (you will be), visitors can join in Kung Fu workshops!
The Dandenong Festival of Lights kicks off on the 26 of August and runs until the 9 of October at the Dandenong Showground in Greaves Reserve. Open 6pm to 10pm daily. You can book your tickets here.
