Forget everything else on your calendar—from the hottest new Melbourne restaurant openings, to the must-book food, booze, and cultural events, here are our top 10 things to do in Melbourne in March. On your marks, get set…

#10 Five Points Deli & Longhorn Saloon

The Chingón and Le Bon Ton boys have done it again! Five Points Deli and Longhorn Saloon is the long-awaited Carlton opening we’re drooling over. Cured meats, bottomless coffee, and an after-dark saloon bar—it’s the new local we’ve been yearning for (opening imminently).

#9 Port Phillip Mussel Festival

The weekend of 7th and 8th March, we’ll be mussel-ing in on the action at the Port Phillip Mussel Festival. A sizzling seafood street festival will take over South Melbourne Market, with mussel-icious dishes from some of Melbourne’s best restaurants, such as Simply Spanish, Dandelion, and Mr Lawrence. We’re getting a little clammy just thinking about it.

#8 Day on the Green

What better way to spend a lazy Saturday than with your idol (Billy, that is) plus a few thousand friends you haven't met yet at a Day on the Green at Rochford Wines? Plus, did we mention…WINE?! On 21st March.

#7 Crawl 'n' Bite

Booze and food. Food and booze. A pairing made in Heaven, and on show during the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival’s popular Crawl ‘n’ Bite sessions. There are still a few classy bar crawl spots left on 10th and 11th March.

#6 Jardin Tan Beer Garden Banquet

Get your alfresco on in the Botanical Gardens in the gorgeous lantern-strung Jardin Tan beer garden. French-Vietnamese canapés, killer cocktails, and Moo Brew crafties—see you at the Tan for this MFWF winner on Friday 6th March.

Kicking off on 14th March, all the beautiful people will be living the #fashionlyf at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival. VAMFF, darling, VAMFF.

#4 Tokyo Tina

It’s time to go loco over Tokyo Tina, the modern Japanese addition to the Hanoi Hannah-Saigon Sally Empire. This month’s must-try new Melbourne restaurant. Hot tip: the hot pot.

#3 Brunswick Music Festival

Those City of Moreland groovers know how to throw a party, with the 27th annual Brunswick Music Festival playing out over two weeks from the 1st to 15th March. There’s an eclectic array of free and ticketed events, to suit all budgets and musical proclivities.

#2 Melbourne International Comedy Festival

Get set to rofl, lmfao, lol and zomg—the Melbourne International Comedy Festival is the funnest place in Melbourne this month. The laughs and awkward grimaces kick off on the 25th and peter out into April.

#1 Dîner en Blanc

On 7th March, Melbourne welcomes the very first Dîner en Blanc to town! Tickets to this chic, large-scale picnic event with a secret location are like hen’s teeth—the word has spread about this global foodie phenomenon. We hope everyone who won the ticket ballot gets grass stains on their whites. #kiddingnotkidding

Can't wait to hit up all the events this month? Well why not WIN somethin' while you do?! Simply Instagram and tag @miniaustralia and #theminiedition when you are at any of the 10 March events, and you’ll be in the draw to win a $300 DINING EXPERIENCE AT SIMPLY SPANISH!
