There’s a Tarantino-Themed Ball On This Weekend

By James Shackell - 18 May 2017

John Travolta's face says it all. The annual Tarantino Ball is back on this weekend, and final release tickets have just gone on sale. Insert every Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs reference ever made here.

Now for those who haven’t been before, this isn’t your standard dress-up ball. These guys go all-out. Don’t expect to rock up in a generic black suit/skinny tie combo and take out the gong for ‘Best Dressed’. There will be people here going full Gimp—guaranteed. (Spare a thought for the ones catching the 86 tram to Northcote…although on second thoughts, the 86 has seen much worse).

Don’t worry if you can’t quote every line from K-Billy’s Super Sounds of the 70s either. This event isn’t just for the hard-core fan boys. Everyone can enjoy live bands pumping out retro Tarantino tunes, Sailor Jerry-spiked milkshakes ($5, of course) and go-go dancers working the D-Floor. Just pick your favourite character, dress up to the freaking nines, and go have a ball. Twosomes, you’ve got it easy: you can probably dig up Ringo and Yolanda costumes at Savers for under a tenner. Stay out of trouble, you crazy kids.
