The Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival kicks off today, which means that everyone’s day-to-day outfits will improve significantly and your ‘gram will be jam-packed with FOMO-worthy events. To make sure you get in on the action, we’ve wrapped up some of our picks of the festival, so be sure to get them on your radar, buy tickets and get involved.

Shop The Runway

Making shopping even easier, Visa is back for a second year with Shop The Runway. Using interactive touchscreens, you can shop pieces from the runway straight away in the experience zone in The Plaza. See now, buy now, and get your hands on some of the runways latest collections. Krystyna Campbell-Pretty Fashion Gift

Featuring designers from Charles Frederick Worth to Alexander McQueen, the Krystyna Campbell-Pretty Fashion Gift displays some of the most breathtaking haute couture pieces from the late nineteenth century to the twenty-first century. With over 200 garments and works from the extensive fashion research collection, the exhibition houses designers’ sketches, workbooks, journals, photographs and fashion magazines from the early nineteenth century onwards. Gorman: Ten Years of Collaborating

Celebrating Gorman’s decade-long collaboration with visual artists, Heide is holding a two-week pop-up exhibition. Displaying garments from Gorman’s new range, collaborating with ten artists who have worked with the Australian clothing label since 2009, the exhibition will see garments exhibited alongside the artworks which inspired the textiles by each artist. Runway 5

Displaying some of our best Aussie talents, Runway 5 highlights all the latest trends hitting our shores. In celebration of International Women’s Day, the all-female designer line-up will showcase a street-style inspired runway. The designers hitting the runway are: We Are Kindred, Alice McCall, Bec & Bridge, C/MEO COLLECTIVE, DIIDA, White Story, Third Form, Tigerlily and Finders Keepers. Get more info here.

Power To The Dreamers

Crafted by the industry, for the industry, the inaugural Australian Fashion Summit this year focuses on empowering your dreams and innovation. With an incredibly impressive panel of hosts (Ashley Graham, Yasmin Sewell, Pip Edwards and Clare Press, to name a few), the Summit hosts a range of presentations, panels, and conversations circulating around the current market, technology’s impact, sustainable practices and retail challenges. HoMie Pop-Up Runway

If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know how much we love our friends at HoMie. Since 2015, these guys have been using streetwear to support a deeper cause, with 100% of their profits supporting youths experiencing homelessness. Making their Virgin Melbourne Fashion Festival debut, HoMie is hosting a pop-up runway in the streets, highlights current and future streetwear trends. A free event that should be firm on your radar. Runway 7

The Festival’s Runway program is legit, highlighting some sensational local and International talent. Our second pick of the line up is Runway 7. The designer mix is elite; Client Liaison Deluxe Line, SISTER, Double Rainbouu, HANDSOM, LIMB, P.E Nation and TEN PIECES. VAMFF Plaza Block Party

Block out your entire Saturday and get down to the VAMFF Plaza Block Party. Heaps of food, booze and music, including some local talents such as DJ Sunni Hart, DJ Mell Hall and Dj Ruby Slippers. With a huge range of events, some free and some ticketed, there is plenty to do. Get more info here.

#OWNTHEMORNING Yoga with The Upside

Twoobs Tworkshop
