Entertainment

OnAir

If you've been watching the ever-growing trend of coffee shop DJ sets with eager eyes, you'd better get down to Cremorne's newest venue OnAir.

Music

Blue Moon Karaoke Bar

So you think you’re pretty good when you belt out a few tunes in the shower. And the karaoke stage doesn’t frighten you when you get up to do your best “Shallow” or Jack Riewoldt impression doing The Killers. But have you ever thought of doing karaoke with an actual live band?
Music

Tempo Rubato

If classical music is your scene or if you just want to spend the start of your weekend supporting a good cause, Tempo Rubato could be your newest Friday night hangout.
Bars & Pubs

The Tote

If you’ve never heard of The Tote, we’re guessing you might not be from around here. Built back in the 19th century, and carrying its name since 1876, The Tote is now just part of the furniture in Collingwood.

Geddes Lane Ballroom

It’s certainly a weird recipe. Take Melbourne’s most famous chef and one property magnate, inject them into an old strip club and add a couple of smoke machines. Congrats, you just built Geddes Lane Ballroom (GLB)

Sun Theatre

Yarraville's Sun Theatre originally opened back in 1938 with a single screen and 1050 seats, but it's come a long way since then. This boutique, art deco gem now boasts eight individual cinemas, with sizes ranging from 200 seats down to 23 couches. It's easily the best cinema in Melbourne's west.

The Astor Theatre

It’s an understatement to say The Astor Theatre has been around for a while. The building (formerly known The Diamond Theatre) was showing flicks from 1913 (when moving pictures were probably kind of terrifying). It was renamed and revamped into Astor Theatre in 1936.

Readings | Carlton

Readings Carlton always felt a little bookish (in every sense of the word). It was never flash or ‘cool’ exactly—it just had a quiet, tweedy, folded-page dignity. Like a lot of its authors, I guess.
TV & Movies

The Virtual Reality Cinema

A few years ago, Virtual Reality was something nerds did in the privacy of their own homes. Most people didn’t know what it was, and they didn’t want to know. Something about dragons? You put this weird headset thing on? It all sounded a bit Matrix.
