Cafes

The Jolly Miller Cafe | Williams Landing

Another Jolly Miller Café has opened and we couldn’t be happier. This means more supershakes, cakes and big breakfasts for us. If you’re not familiar with The Jolly Miller Cafes, then you’ve clearly been living under a rock! Allow us to fill you in... the Williams Landing café will be serving up most decadent supershakes – we’re talking Nutella peanut butter, chocolate lamington, Oreo, Malteser and our personal favourite, the salted caramel choc brownie. If you’re after a healthier option (why would you!?), the café also does a mean smoothie and a mouth-watering brunch, including your obligatory smashed avo, corn and feta fritters and ricotta hotcakes.

Cafes

From On High

This understated little café definitely packs a punch! If you plan on being a repeat offender like us, you’ll love From On High’s forever changing, seasonal menu. All the dishes are vibrant, tasty, beautifully presented and have just a hint of Middle Eastern influence with ingredients like eggplant, tahini and dukka. If you’re a classic bruncher, you can’t go wrong with the eggs benedict, but if you want to get your sugar hit in early, then the fan favourite pikelet stack is for you. Although this hotspot does get pretty busy, especially on the weekends, you don’t usually have to wait long for a table and the staff are always friendly and accommodating.

Cafes

Oneyada Thai Cafe

From the family that brought you Jinda Thai in Abbotsford, comes Oneyada Café, serving up Thai brunch. We can hear your skepticism from here! Don't worry, your eggs, sausage and bread are still on the menu, but they've been given a Thai twist. Once you’ve tried the Thai style baked eggs with slices of pork loaf, sautéed minced pork and sausage, we know you’ll be converted! And if you’re really getting into the spirit of a Thai breaky, try the homemade buns with pandan and pumpkin kaya (coconut jam). Amongst a sea of golden lattes, matcha and rainbow everything, we’re loving Oneyada’s unique take on the Melbourne brunch!

Cafes

Next of Kin

It’s always a good sign when a café is packed during the week and we can see why Next of Kin has no shortage of people sipping coffees and tucking into perfectly cooked eggs! This small café has been a welcomed addition to Glenhuntly Road with it’s modern style and delicious food. We went for the healthy option and had the coconut chicken salad with zoodles, coriander, radicchio, poached shredded chicken, avo and mango dressing. If this is what healthy eating is like, maybe we should do it more often! But for you sinners out there, they’re serving up the most divine black forest pancakes and Mork chocolate milkshakes.

Bars & Pubs

Loch & Key

Loch & Key is hidden up a rickety staircase, behind a bookcase in Melbourne’s oldest pub, Captain Melville, and has certainly perfected the rabbit warren-esque, quaint cabin style. With humble finishes, dimly lit nooks and crannies, and a hint of gentlemen’s club, this bar is the ideal Melbourne venue, plus it’s one of few places that stays open until 5am (and 7am on Saturdays). This is only made better by the exceptional service you’ll receive from the bartenders. Although the cocktail menu is on the smaller side, the bartenders are more than happy to mix you up your own creation depending on what you’re in the mood for.

Beauty

Waxed | Windsor

I think I can safely say that waxing doesn’t fall into anyone’s favourite beauty treatment category. And fair enough too. It now sits firmly in the ‘necessity’ column, not the ‘pamper’ column. But for all our loathing of dedicating time, money and energy to ripping out unwanted hair, we’re still completely chuffed when we find somewhere that’s beyond excellent at what they do, enter: Waxed.

A tiny window front attached to the rear end of Glen Waverley favourite, Mocha Jo’s, this humble burger bar is all about epic, affordable American-style burgers. Think Nutella peanut butter, Malteser and salted caramel choc brownie... Drool!
