This is the year to plan a wellness holiday at home, so book a trip and chill out in one of these holistic beauties—the best day spas in Byron Bay.
From the moment you enter this contemporary, minimalistic space you feel relaxed; where time becomes irrelevant and the only thing on your mind is the nurturing treatment that awaits. Comma has nailed the ‘calm the farm’ feeling and with aptly named massages like Sticks and Stones or The Long Exhale, one can only succumb to the aura of this beautiful space. Here, a combination of Sans Ceuticals products and Maison Louis Marie perfumes make for an olfactory overload. You’ll find this decadent experience situated in the back streets of Byron’s industrial mecca, where you can do a post yoga class or shop at the many designer studios on offer. Locally owned and operated, Comma is a wellness hub for locals and visitors alike and a standout among Byron Bay’s best day spas.
Raes Spa At Raes On Wategos
Raes On Wategos, the delightful hacienda boutique hotel that crowns Wategos Beach with views across the bay and beyond, includes a European-inspired day spa for both hotel guests and the public. Reminisce of a classically tiled Turkish bath house, the spa offers a comfortable, intimate space for the most luxurious of treatments. They’ve even flown in Saint Marie Novelle products from Florence, ensuring this Byron Bay day spa is opulence with a capital O. Offering signature massages where you choose your own destiny from citrus summer to aromatic herbs or red wine and rosemary; we suggest the two-hour Santa Marie Novella Indulgent where temperate wax is poured over you from the sweetest of ceramic vessels, followed by a jade crystal facial. Simply delicious. As you drift down the white-washed stairs back to reality, stay awhile at Raes' beachfront Cellar Bar for a fresh oyster and spritz.
Osprey Spa At Elements Of Byron
The Osprey Spa is a light-filled space immersed in nature at the renowned retreat, Elements of Byron. Open to both hotel guests and the public, the spa tailors its treatments to suit the natural surrounds. Located a hop and jump away from the Byron Solar Train stop makes for easy access in and out of bustling Byron. Osprey is an exclusive spa offering with botanical treatments such as a Flower Ritual and a Botanica Escape, and we’re hooked. With Belongil Beach as the backdrop to the retreat, ocean breezes and the smell of saltwater will accompany your massage, facial or body cleanse. Indulge in a juice or aperitif by the fire pit or poolside on the way out and you’ll feel like you’ve had a weekend away.
The Spa At Byron At Byron
Byron at Byron by Crystalbrook changed ownership and had a refresh late 2019, but some things never change like the rainforest-inspired spa. This beautiful Byron day spa is a fresh garden-filled space with an array of calming treatment rooms, a mineral plunge pool and steam room that detoxes until your heart’s content. There’s also a private infrared sauna space with an intimate garden lounge to sip local tea blends. The Byron at Byron day spa is ideally located near Suffolk Park and adjacent to a pristine rainforest, where guests can meander through the national park before or after their visit. Book the Rainforest Couple’s Retreat for a guided rainforest walk, native bush-inspired massage using locally sourced Mukti organic products, followed by a seasonal platter from the resort chef. Bliss.
This little, green diamond in the rough has been a local Mullumbimby favourite for many a year. Set amongst a Balinese-inspired garden down a hidden laneway, Kiva Spa evokes a space of calm and rejuvenation. It’s a sacred place of rituals where you move between the heated jet spas to the hammam steam to the sweat lodge to the ginseng plunge pool and repeat. There’s a dreamy tea garden area too, so take a book and linger longer. Kiva Spa is a public bathhouse space where you can pay for one to two hours in the spa or indulge in treatments laden with fresh ingredients to soothe the body.
Buddha Garden Day Spa
Nestled within lush gardens in the thriving Arts Factory Village precinct in Byron Bay, Buddha Day Spa is, as the name suggests, the ideal namaste in paradise. One of the oldest Byron Bay day spas, the lush treatments here include use of the spa gardens, plunge pool and sauna plus complimentary local herbal teas. Offering a down-to-earth vibe with a friendly local twist, we’re obsessing over their Body Rituals menu with fresh ingredients like tropical lime and ginger, aloe and green tea and a coco crème wrap.
Gaia Retreat And Spa
Recognised as an award-winning health retreat, Gaia is set amongst 25 acres in the Byron Hinterland and is as stunning as it is good for the soul. Outside guests are welcome to indulge in the health retreat surrounds by booking a treatment in the day spa. Gaia Retreat and Spa offers tailored treatments for both men and women, using age-old principles such as Ayurvedic medicine. You’ll enjoy complimentary use of the spa, sauna and pool with every 90-minute treatment, while the best part about this Byron Bay wellness retreat is you can order from the wholefood restaurant and pair with a glass of organic wine.
Halcyon House Spa
We couldn’t resist including one of our fringe favourites from the Tweed Coast. Halcyon House Spa is opulence personified with no (hot) stone left unturned, the design is world class. An extension of the beautiful Halcyon House building, the spa was built to suit the original façade of the hotel. Experienced therapists offer treatments customised with the Australian-owned Sodashi organic range. Try the 90-minute Nourishing Body Boost, where lathered with pink clay and herbal extracts you’ll feel and look sensational, topped off with a complimentary steam room inspired by a traditional Turkish Hammam. Post spa, bask on the Paper Daisy deck with a freshly made juice and house made ice cream.
