Summer is the season to let loose, forget all responsibilities and treat every day like it's the weekend. So, if you’ve found yourself in a constant loop of binging Netflix while sitting under the AC, it’s time to hit pause and make the most of this warmer weather.
We’ve put together an itinerary full of festivals, sporting moments and activities for an action-packed summer—here's your hit list of the best things to do on the Sunshine Coast. How many can you conquer?
The dream team behind the Brisbane Street Art Festival and the co-founder of Jungle Love Festival is delivering a new immersive festival experience, Yonder. It’s the ultimate summer glamping fest where you can catch artists spanning a variety of mediums and genres—from live music across four stages, to visual art, theatre, dance, roving performances and workshops. Yonder Festival is an 18+ event and we’re expecting it to be one of the best things to do on the Sunshine Coast this month.

The 5km Sunshine Coast Colour Frenzy run or walk will take place at Lake Kawana near Sunshine Coast Stadium, so you’d best be nabbing a place fast. This event is completely self-paced and family-friendly, so whether you choose to walk, jog, skip or run, there’s absolutely no pressure.
When: Sunday 1 December from 7am
Where: Lake side at Sunshine Coast Stadium
Learn To Surf
Ain’t nothing better than hanging 10 at the beach (except hanging a tenner over the bench at a gelato bar during a scorcher), but if you’re lacking the skills, then make this summer the one that you sign up for a little help. We’ve rounded up the best spots you can learn to surf on the Sunshine Coast, so you can finally ditch the boogie board, don the rashie and rack up boatloads of street cred.
Scale New Heights With The Coast’s Best Next-Level Hikes
Tried and tested to get your heart racing, your face glowing and your activewear, well, a little worn in, we’ve conquered five of the best hikes on the Sunshine Coast. And now it’s your turn. Start early to avoid peak heat, pack plenty of water and don’t forget the camera, because if there’s no photo evidence…did it even really happen?
Grab Your Hard Hat And Crawl Through 6 Of Queensland’s Best Caves
Where our natural wonders are concerned, it’s no secret sun-drenched Queensland is a veritable trove of coastal splendour. Our idyllic beaches are the best in the country, the surf is stellar, and only about 70% of the wildlife wants to kill us. But beneath the surface, Queensland is also home to some of the most beautiful natural caves in Australia. We recommend tackling this activity first thing in the morning, before the humidity strikes, so grab your hard hat and getting your adventure boots on—it’s time to get caving!
