Starring Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones, Narcos) and Carl Weathers (Rocky, Arrested Development), alongside special guests, Star Wars legends, and MMA badass Gina Carano, the first episode of the new season of The Mandalorian is streaming from Friday, October 30 on Disney+.
If you haven’t caught the first season yet, don’t stress, we aren’t going to hit you with any spoilers. All you need to know is: yes, 'The Child' is totally worth it and the most adorable thing you will ever witness and that Pedro Pascal is somehow still insanely attractive even while wearing a helmet the entire time. It also scooped up a humble seven Emmy awards in total, including some for Taika Waititi's take on the final episode; Chapter 8: Redemption. So in short, you know it's good.
The best thing about The Mandalorian is that it requires no prior Star Wars knowledge to enjoy the series. The story itself is a stand-alone—all the main characters have their own thing going on, completely separate from the ever-complex, sprawling Star Wars universe. The production also boasts a series of talented directors like Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, From Dusk Till Dawn), Peyton Reed (Bring It On, Ant-Man), Dave Filoni (Star Wars) and the showrunner himself Jon Favreau (Chef, Iron Man, Elf) lending their own creative spin and signature style to their individual episodes.
Without giving too much away, this new season continues to follow our mate Mando and his adorable companion on their galactic adventures. The story centres around the search for The Child’s origins, which brings the duo face to face with a litany of laser-gun-wielding bad guys.
We’re particularly pumped to see the legendary Giancarlo Esposito, known for his iconic villainous performances as Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and the Vought mogul Stan Edgar in The Boys. He’s donning a menacing cape in the trailer, so fingers crossed he’s going to be in some epic battles this season.
Quick recap: in the first season of The Mandalorian, we follow the travails of a lone gunfighter (Mando), who meets 'The Child' on one of his missions. In the new season dropping October 30, The Mandalorian and the Child continue their journey, facing enemies and rallying allies as they make their way through a dangerous galaxy in the tumultuous era after the collapse of the Galactic Empire.
The entire first season is available now to watch on Disney+ (subscription required, conditions apply), so go forth and become addicted for the first time. This is the way—prepare yourself for an epic new season streaming from Friday, October 30.
