What combines mouth-watering food exclusively from the Mornington Peninsula, the finest drops of wine and tunes from our most talented local songwriters? Hint: It’s a lot closer (and easier to access) than heaven.
Running on Saturday 17 March, The Peninsula Picnic presented by Melbourne MINI Garage marries picnic-fied dishes from eight of the region’s best restaurants, wine and show-stopping live music ALLLLL at Mornington Racecourse.
Popping up for one day only, the line-up is headlined by roots royalty John Butler Trio. Other acts include Angie McMahon (#33 in 2018’s Triple J Hottest 100), Harry James Angus (of The Cat Empire) and Vikki Thorn (of The Waifs), so you can leave the road trip music in the car.
Restaurants and wineries that will be making an appearance include DOC Mornington (pizzas for erryone), Green Olive, Stables Smokehouse, Montalto and Polperro. Along with miniature cellar door tastings from all wineries (gotta try before you buy, amirite?!), sessions with the Peninsula’s top wine-makers will run throughout the day and beers will be provided by Yak Ales pop-up bar.
And the news gets better. The day will also feature market stalls (you can never have too much #artisanal in your life), a farmers' market (you can never have too much regional cheese at home) and kids activities (you can never have too many…kids? As long as they’re entertained!). Children under five can also attend free.
Strap the kids (or, your adult-aged friends) in the car, don’t eat breakfast and prime your ears for some sweet, sweet live music. But you'd better get in quick—we have a feeling tickets for this one is going to sell like Pimms on Friday night.
