It feels like Melbourne is just starting to wake up to the Yarra’s potential as a venue space. Obviously Southbank’s been humming for a while, then came Arbory, then Arbory Afloat and Supafish. And now we’re getting something new: a pop-up Parisian spritz bar from the guys at St-Germain.
They’re calling it the ‘new Aperol Spritz’. Made with St-Germain elderflower liqueur rather than Aperol, so you lose that Berocca orange colour, but gain a whole new level of YUM (and, let’s be honest, Melbourne has pretty much done Aperol Spritz to death yeah?)
The St-Germain Spritz bar will be popping up as part of the Melbourne Food & Wine Fest. The idea is to transport you to the rue de la blah blah...somewhere on the south bank of the Seine. That’s why, along with refreshing spritz cocktails, they have a beautiful Parisian garden setting, and a team of trained coiffeurs who’ll French braid your hair for free (legit).
“Cocktail lovers will be able to enjoy a taste of the French lifestyle, relaxing in this beautiful setting with a refreshing St-Germain Spritz. Perfect for a leisurely afternoon spent enjoying the sunshine with friends,” says St-Germain ambassador Andy Wren.
Keep an eye out for this one in the River Graze zone. Bon appetite.

One too many spritzes? A good bowl of pho will cure that right up. Check out the new pho bar in Northcote.
