Who’s cuisine reigns supreme? That’s what we’re about to find out.
For the first time ever, Melbourne’s getting a no-holds-barred karaage fried chicken showdown. Two chefs enter, they cook a lot of chicken, only one leaves alive (we didn’t read the rules, but this seems about right).
Basically what’s happening is this: one of Tokyo’s best chefs, Shigeru-San from the famous Bunon wine bar is pitting his fried chicken skills against our very own Morgan McGlone (Belles Hot Chicken, Natural History).
On the 4 May, the Belles Function Space in Fitzroy will turn into a karaage battleground. You can snag public tickets for $25, which allows you to taste two different takes on karaage, plus a few sides like coleslaw and waffles. There’ll also be an exclusive collection of natural wines on the night (Bunon is big on natural wine).
There’s gonna be two sittings: one at 5:30pm and one at 8pm. Tickets are first come best dressed, so get in quick. You can snag ‘em here.
