Whether you're a savoury kind of gal or a dude with a serious sweet tooth, there are no end of places in Melbourne dishing up spectacular brekkie and brunch fare. From the smashed avo at Three Bags Full, to the PB&J waffles at Touchwood, the eggs benny at Miss Marmalade, and the fluffiest of scrambles at Liar Liar – we've eaten our body weight in brekkie, oh, about 10 times over.

We did the hard yards in 2013, putting our arteries at risk with the sheer quantity of thickened cream and bacon we gobbled, all in the name of research. But we're not always naughty and we also munched sanctimoniously on some of the yummiest healthy breakfast options around and guzzled green juices and smoothies like nobody's business. We also went gluten-free, both southside and northside, and hunted down the very best hangover curing feeds.

All in all, we ate A LOT of breakfast, and think it's time to share our top picks with you, dear Urban Listers. You may have caught some of these over the past 6 months, but we though we'd compile them into one big handy Best Breakfasts of 2013 guide. Dig in.
