The Best of the Grape Grazing Festival

By Ella Pleasant
2nd Feb 2014

One of Melbourne's favourite food and wine events, the Yarra Valley Grape Grazing Festival, is back in full force, bigger and better than ever!

Kicking off on 14th February, the three-day festival will showcase the very best food, wine, cider and ale producers in the Yarra Valley, with over 60 spectacular venues hosting events.

A Grape Grazing Festival Weekend Pass will get you into over 30 grazing events across the Yarra Valley, as well as heaps of specials and discounts, all for a measly $25. That includes live music and entertainment, outdoor activities, French-themed afternoons and gourmet BBQs …and you get a souvenir glass, water bottle and spiffy lanyard to boot. Hello, value!

In addition to the Weekend Pass events, there are a number of ticketed events that range from balloon flights to gourmet brunches, lunches, dinners, degustations and much, much more.

Grape Grazing truly is the ultimate celebration of wine, scrumptious food, boutique ciders and craft beers. Not sure where to start? Here's our guide to a wonderful weekend of sipping and sampling, lazing and grazing at the Grape Grazing Festival.

Could there be any film more swoon-worthy than Breakfast at Tiffany's? It has all the winning ingredients for the ultimate romantic film: dangerously handsome neighbour, a diamond-loving socialite, and a cat.  This Valentine's Day you can watch Holly Golightly in all her dazzling glory outdoors on the big screen, with the backdrop of Rochford Wines and surrounding Yarra Ranges.

We all know that, like movie watching, Victoria's freshest produce tastes best when eaten outside, so why not invest in the premium Grand Cru package? You'll get a gorgeous gourmet platter and bottle of fine wine for $120 per couple. You can hire bean beds/deckchairs on the night but make sure you bring a blanket to snuggle under.

The ultimate celebration of Yarra Valley produce, with ingredients picked fresh from the vegie patch or sourced from down the road, this is one spot not to pass by!

Animal keepers will introduce you to Australia's most fearsome predators: from grazers (the animal kind, not festival attendees!) and carnivores, to those that swallow their food whole, you will get an opportunity to see them all in action! Eeep!

The predators aren't having all the scoffing fun here, though! Healesville Sanctuary will host a number of the Yarra Valley's boutique food and beverage producers, including Yarra Valley Cider and Trellis Wines up alongside a gourmet spread from the Healesville Hotel.

A Grape Grazing pass will snag you a 20% discount off the Sanctuary admission price, with kids free on weekends. Free to Zoos Victoria members.
