Bluebonnet Barbecue Pops Up at The John Curtin

Collingwood barbecue experts Bluebonnet Barbecue are set to bring their juicy, meaty American BBQ goodness to all-round live music and booze venue The John Curtin Hotel for the foreseeable future. The purveyors of some of Melbourne’s best American BBQ fare (think awesome meat, cornbread and more) will be popping up at the Lygon Street pub for the next four months, where they will be serving up finger-licking’ food until 10pm, seven days a week. 

Bluebonnet Barbecue’s residency replaces Huxtaburger, who are focusing their efforts on setting up their latest new restaurant in Hawthorn. The Bluebonnet menu is a cracker—smoked porter braised beef cheek, their signature Angus brisket and, of course, pulled pork all feature, with a variety of veggie sides and slaws as accompaniments. 

The John Curtin itself is a must-visit Melbourne pub if you’re keen on beers and live music—its upstairs band room is legendary, having played host to the likes of local acts Dick Diver and Twerps in recent years.
