Good weather in Melbourne is a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, it's actual sunshine. On the other, our bank accounts have been copping it from all angles recently. Luckily, we’ve put together a list of all the awesome FREE things happening this February.

From full-blown music festivals to art shows and comedy, your hip pocket will thank you. Check out all the free things to do in Melbourne this month. 

Yalukut Weelam Ngargee Indigenous Festival

Park-side and sun-doused, your day among these cultural festivities will be what midsummer dreams are made of. Kick your heels up and watch a deluge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music and arts. You couldn't get anymore Aussie if you tried.

Yoga In The Park

If you’ve seen how expensive yoga can be these days, you’d jump at any chance for a free class. This being Melbs and us being typical Melbournians (eating and drinking our way through life) a yoga class is juuust what we need. 1x yoga class means 1x extra slice of cake, right? Swing by Edinburgh Gardens this week and get your Zen on.

Pause Fest Start-Up Expo

This one goes out to the entrepreneurially inclined. The line-up for this year's Pause Fest is out of this world (usually that's a euphemism, but this year they have a real-life NASA astronaut speaking, so you know). Get down to biznez and network your day away with like-minded go-getters. Bill Gates would.

Fed Square Dance Party

Did someone say dance party? Wait, did someone just say FREE dance party? Oohhh yes. Fed Square is being transformed into a huge dance floor with two hours of awesome dancing classes and an epic dance-off. For those too chicken to bust a move, bring a picnic blanket and watch. Ya creepy pervs.

St Kilda Festival

This is why we love Melbs, guys. St Kilda Fest is back again this year with a huge FREE festival, chock full of awesome acts like Tkay Maidza, Japanese wallpaper and tons of food, bevvies and activities to keep you entertained all day long! Think bubble soccer, hip-hop yoga and medieval combat. Nice one. Check out the new line-up over here

Chinese Lunar New Year At Emporium

One NY bash is never enough. Luckily, it’s time to hail in the Lunar New Year with all kinds of festivities at Emporium Melbourne. 3 words: zodiac fortune predictions. Run, don’t walk.

Puppies And Pinot

Our two favourite P words! Pack your furry friends into the car and head over to the Ascot Lot to party with puppies and pinot. The one-day event even includes a special dog-friendly red (that we've heard is top-notch tipple), and there's winescream (yep, wine ice cream is a thing) and plenty of puppers to pat. Sounds like a dream come true.

White Night

Everyone’s favourite night out is back for another year and boy—we couldn’t be more excited. This year is set to be bigger than ever, with over 100 free events and 12+ hours of wicked lights and art installations. Don’t miss the Lost in Aurora projection.

St Kilda Latin Festival

Get your salsa skirt on and shake those hips—the St Kilda Latin Festival has all the South American goodies for you. From food and drink to music, live performances and art. They’re promising to make you feel like you just stepped into Cancun, just without all the topless American college kids.

Brazil carnival

February must be the month for gettin’ your South American on...This time, we’re off to Brazil for a two-day celebration filled with amazing cocktails, great vibes, traditional carnival dancing and music. It's all happening at the Queen Vic Market this month. Better start practising those belly dance moves.

Lonsdale St Greek Festival

Opa! Lonsdale Street is being transformed to celebrate all things Greek this month, and they want you to help. A huge Greek street party sounds like a good time to us—Zorba till you drop, eat all of the saganaki and check out the market stalls.

Funny At The Brunny

Every second Monday the Brunswick Hotel is offering up FREE comedy and $10 jugs of beer. That sounds doable, right? The beer and comedy may be cheap, but the laughs certainly aren’t! (ba dum tssskkk). The comedians lined up are some of the best Melbourne has to offer. Mondays sorted!

The Pool At NGV

If the admission prices at MSAC have you gasping for air, don’t fret. NGV’s new installation The Pool comes complete with deck chairs and lounges. Perfect. You’re free to dip your feet in and walk around while you get a load of the installation. Who said art wasn’t cool? (See what we did there?)

Super Field

If you’re searching for free things to do, we're guessing an international trip isn’t exactly on the cards. Well, we’ve got the next best thing—sound and vision of remote locations so breathtaking they'll transport you all over the world in a heartbeat. 19 artists are coming together for a special VR experience. And it'll cost you zero dollars.

NGV Triennial 

If you haven't hit up the NGV Triennial yet, it's time to sublet the rock you've been living under and go check it out. We're talking 78 artists from all over the world (32 countries, to be exact) and a complete, four-level takeover of the NGV building. This thing is officially huge. And best of all? It's FREE. Head after dark for live music, dancing and drinks at the new Supernormal Natsu pop-up.

Classical Concerts At Sidney Myer Music Bowl 

If classical music gets you going, this one’s for you. The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is putting on three FREE concerts during Feb. Yep, you heard right. It’s first-in-best-dressed, and you’ll be listening to some classics like Tchaikovsky. BYO champas and cheese boards.

Pop-Up Park Werribee

Westside is looking pretty sweet this Feb, and it's all thanks to this Werribee pop-up park. Werribee City Centre is going OFF this month, home to giant games, movies, music and food. Aussie favourites like Anthony Callea are on the bill and it’s on all day and night, so you can expect hours of entertainment.
