It’s been a big week for ice-cream news. First Pidapipo drops on Degraves St, and now Gelato Messina announces its first CBD store. Well...a temporary one anyway.
Messina (along with the guys at Wonderbao) are set to become the new tenants at HWKR on A’Beckett St, replacing Koi Dessert Bar and Monkey’s Corner.
The HWKR spot will be Messina’s first ever foray into the cut-throat world of CBD ice-cream, and they’ve decided to bring the big guns. The Messina at HWKR will be slinging a new range of ‘mono-portion’ desserts: single serve gelato items like their famous ‘Dr Evil’s Magic Mushroom Cake’ in miniature form. The other four creations will be Cocoa Nib Cake, Macaron Gelato Sandwich, Hazelnut And Coffee Tart and Coconut And Cherry Cake. Dayyum.
Even better, Messina will be collab-ing with Wonderbao to create some pretty funky food fusions. Think ‘Duck A l’Orange’: duck fat caramel-filled bao doughnuts served with a tangy orange gelato. In answer to your question—no idea, but it sounds effing delicious.
HWKR’s other residents, Chanteen and Khao, will be sticking around a while longer, while Bread & Beast’s tenancy will be up in a few weeks.
