Cue the Mariachi music—Melbourne’s getting a lucha libre Christmas wrestling battle. And yes, we’re aware how ridiculous that sounds.

It’s all thanks to the guys at Lucha Fantastica (a Mexican wrestling events company—aka the greatest business card of all time). They’re taking over Brown Alley in the CBD on 8 December, and they’re bringing a whole heap of tequila.

Here’s what you can expect. Luchadores and Enmascarados (Mexican wrestlers) doing their thing, tequila flowing like Iguazu Falls, Mexican Santa Claus, ‘mini’ wrestlers in the ring, supporting the Luchadores (your guess is as good as ours), plus a Mariachi band—Tijuana-based The Lone Mariachi—playing Mexican party tunes into the wee hours.

All that’s missing is Jack Black in spandex.

The Details

When: From 9pm, Friday 8 December
Where: Brown Alley, 585 Lonsdale St

Heads up: Golden Gaytime stout is here, and it's bloody delicious.
