Now, stay with us, because we’ve been promised this many times before, but Premier Daniel Andrews this morning has announced that Melbourne will actually be getting a railway line to the airport—we’re just going to have to wait another decade for it.
Andrews states “By the time the Metro Tunnel is complete in 2026, construction work will be well underway on an airport rail link.

So, it looks as though the first time you jump on one of Melbourne’s 4 new underground railway stations, you’ll also be able to get updates on the construction taking place from the CBD to Tullamarine.
One thing’s for sure, it’s definitely not going to be an express service straight from the city to the airport, it’ll no doubt take a route on the already very busy section between Southern Cross and Sunshine, then snake its way to Australia’s busiest airport.
Farewell ridiculous parking fees.
