There’s A Viking Exhibition Coming To Melbourne This Month

Everyone knows Vikings were hot Scandinavian dudes with horned helmets, right? Wrong! Melbourne Museum is here with its new exhibition, Vikings: Beyond the Legend, to debunk everything you learnt from that History Channel show (which is still a pretty badass show, let's face it).

The new exhibition will run from March to August this year, and combines archaeological findings and a whopping 450 artefacts, giving you a glimpse into the day-to-day life of your average viking. Channel your inner archaeologist and get interactive, with the opportunity to excavate a boat burial and discover artefacts buried inside.

Melbourne Museum is getting graphic with this one. Roll up your sleeves, ladies and gents: you have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to get intimate knowledge of the Viking diet…maybe a little too intimate. The Museum is displaying 'coprolites' (literally fossilised poo), so BYO Bristol Stool Chart and get analysing!

Feeling hungry? Us too. In collab with the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, the Melbourne Museum is hosting A Vikings Long Table Dinner, a Scandinavian feast.

Here's a little mood music to get your juices flowing.
