Get your glam on because St Kilda Film Festival are rolling out the red carpet. They’re kicking the festivities off with a two-hour session celebrating local talent while screening a number of short films and previews of what’s to come. Stand out shorts include a screening of ‘The Hitchhiker’ directed by Adele Vuko, the mind behind the 2016 viral parody video ‘Activewear.’ Make sure you also grab a ticket for the after party, which will have drinks, canapés and entertainment into the night.

The relentless and rebellious film festival that originated in Utah is making its way Down Under for two sessions only at the St Kilda Film Festival. Slamdance Film Festival is all about championing emerging talent and innovative filmmaking, so you’re sure to catch some memorable international short films here. Stick around after the first session for a Q&A with Slamdance programmer, Adele Han Li, who will dish the inside scoop on how to make it in the international film festival scene.
Real people and real stories, Life, Documented is screening a selection of documentary and docu-drama shorts from the Top Australian Short Film Competition. From a long-distance runner trekking across the Australian desert to a freediver escaping the grind of daily life, these are true stories you don’t want to miss.
Under The Radar
Under the Radar screens the work of up-and-coming filmmakers who are under the age of 21. Enjoy ten short films that feature both humorous and melancholy takes on themes that are super relevant to these Aussie youngsters.
Women In Film
The Women in Film session celebrates talented Aussie ladies both on screen and behind the camera of these shorts. We’re talking complex mother-daughter relationships, identical twin storylines and the gritty life of a bar waitress. Round up your gals and hit up this Thursday night sesh—you won't regret it.
Sounds Of St Kilda
Diving into St Kilda’s rich musical history, this session features the world premiere of two documentaries—St Kilda Jazz Stories and Return of the Espy. You should also stick around for bonus Q&A’s with the filmmakers.
If all you want is a decent belly laugh, look no further than Comedy Showcase which will hit you with the best of Aussie humour. There are eight shorts on show at this session so round up the crew for a Saturday night out full of laughs.
