December is here and it’s time to get your party pants on. While you may feel and look like a melted snowman after this freak Melbourne heatwave, the city is busy coming to life. New restaurants and markets are popping up, and you don’t want to miss out on some seriously good deals.

Buckle up. Here’s all the news you missed this week.

  • Seriously, batten down the hatches because this heat wave is going to be met with 3 months' worth of rain over the weekend. You know what that means: popcorn, wine and Netflix.

  • We know you can’t resist a good burger, especially if it’s cheap. Be one of the first 3011 peeps to celebrate Huxtaburger’s new Footscray location on Saturday 2 December to snag a juicy burger for $1. Yeah, we said ONE DOLLAR.

  • Love free beer? Who doesn't! Well Heineken are shouting you a cold one this month to celebrate the launch of their new Heineken 3. You can get your first beer on the house at a bunch of different venues all over town. Just drop a casual hint at the bar. Check out all the deets here

  • PSA: McDonald’s sweet mustard dipping sauce is back on the menu FOR GOOD. BRB, picking up a 24 pack of chicken nuggets.

  • Make sure to grab a ticket to Ridge’s rooftop pool party on 10 December. A $30 ticket includes one comp'd drink, an optional photo shoot (we know you perked up at that) and a live DJ spinning tunes. Lock it in.

  • Grab the crew and do a Sunday Session at the bustling St Moritz. It has 10 beers on tap, plus a drool-worthy menu *praise hands emoji*.

  • Melbourne just got a whole lot fancier because a lobster roll and champagne pop-up is hitting the Arts Centre. Bring your A-Game.

  • Masters of the Melbourne-style Greek souvlaki, Stalactites, is passing on its precious knowledge nuggets to a newly acclaimed sibling, Hella Good. Gyros all round!

  • A new pizza bar just opened on La Trobe street. Grab a date (or your cat) and head to Hungry Bear for some cheap gourmet style pizza. PS. they're doing a NINE CHEESE PIZZA. 

  • Our friends at The Sporting Globe in Richmond collaborated with Ash Pollard to add a new peanut butter cheesecake to its menu. Worth it for a cheat day.

  • Chef Tom Brockbank joined South Melbourne’s iconic O’Connell’s Centenary Hotel. Lucky for us, he added new items to the menu, including free-range chicken, 12-hour slow cooked lamb and salmon gravlax. Did we just hear your stomach growl?  

  • Still searching for gift ideas? Learn To Taste Coffee by St Ali is a take-home coffee course that helps you understand and appreciate the true characteristics of coffee. It seriously is the perfect stocking stuffer.

  • A new boutique Arts Series hotel, The Chen, officially opened its doors in Box Hill. Check out its rooftop pool, vibrant artwork and enjoy cocktails on the sundeck. Bougie AF.

  • How Two Livea pop-up featuring clothing, accessories and homewares—just opened its doors on Chapel street. To celebrate, Tub O' Dough will be in the store for the first two weekends of December, so you can devour cookie dough while shopping. Hell yeah.    

  • Treat yo’self to a five to eight-course meal at the brand-spanking new Wickens at the Royal Mail Hotel. We know you can’t resist a menu full of abalone steamed buns, yabbie mousse and watercress, and a butter poached pork belly #drools.
