What do you get when you combine a scenic picnic location with food, wine and live music? Aside from some very happy Vegemites, you get The Peninsula Picnic! Held at the Mornington Racecourse on the pretty peninsula, the Peninsula Picnic is gathering a bunch of chefs, wine makers and musicians together this Sunday to create one epic al fresco experience.
Get those tummies rumbling for tasting platters from the likes of Matt Wilkinson (Pope Joan), Max Paganoni (Max’s Restaurant, Red Hill Estate) and the team at DOC Mornington, among others. Choose your own range of tasty treats to create your perfect Peninsula picnic. Maybe you’re after a DOC Porchetta Roll, with Mt Martha raddichio and Mostarda Di Mele, or you could be keen to find out exactly what Matt Wilkinson will be serving up when he suggests ‘toasties, salads and soft serve’. Of course, with enough friends at your picnic, you’ll be able to taste a bit of everything!
Winos stop whining, with appearances from Montalto, Circe, Prancing Horse, Crittenden Estate and Merricks General Wine Store, you’re set to swill away the afternoon. There will be tastings galore so you can make sure to take home the perfect drop…s.
Now that your empty stomachs and thirsty mouths are taken care of, what’s on the cards to serenade your ears (they were feeling left out)? Well, you’re in for a treat, Listers, with live music from The Waifs, Paul Dempsey, Tinpan Orange, Pierce Brothers and Hayden Calnin.
So head on down to The Peninsula Picnic from noon this Sunday, 29th March. Get your gourmet on, wander through the wine, and swing or sing along to the sweet tunes. This epic picnic is perfect for gathering your family and friends and feasting until you’re fed up (never!).
