Love a good ol‘ boogie and care about the environment, too? Global dance institution, No Lights No Lycra, celebrates Earth Hour 2015 with an event this Saturday at Schoolhouse Studios in Collingwood.
No Lights No Lycra have reinvented the Melbourne dance class with their lights-out dance sessions (yes, you’ll be dancing in the dark) and ‘no talking, only dancing’ mantra. They’re teaming up with Earth Hour, a group that highlight climate change and promote a global hour of darkness each year, for an evening of music, dance and awareness that’s shaping up to be a lot of fun.
Melbourne based five-piece, Total Giovanni, will be DJing on the night, with a live performance from local band, Golden Girls. A heap of environmentally savvy groups will also be on hand with information about eco issues, including founder of Port Melbourne not-for-profit Sustainable Table, Cassida Duncan, who is an expert on eating in an environmentally sustainable way. And if dancing isn’t your thing, there will be a screening of a recently produced Earth Hour documentary, bringing you up to speed on what it’s all about.
The whole shebang kicks off at 6pm, so grab your dancing shoes and get grooving for good! You can find out more at the No Lights No Lycra Facebook group.
