Meet Ponsonby’s latest addition, Fitzroy Lounge Bar. The swanky spot is eclectic, relaxed and has a little something for everyone.
Inspired by Melbourne suburb Fitzroy, owner Nikki Ahern and the team have created a bold and brilliant space featuring murals, bold prints and greenery. With inviting cosy furnishings and a sprawling bar, you won’t want to leave.
Serving tapa style bites, the food menu is small but delicious.
Our top pick is the chef’s platter. Featuring a selection of Kapiti cheeses, house-made dips, olives and a range of charcuterie, it’s the perfect companion to an ice-cold cocktail. The best part? The platter is fully customisable to any dietary requirements, so everyone is catered for.
Another favourite is the ceviche. Think pieces of snapper in coconut with flavourings of pineapple, coriander, chilli and lime topped with kumara crisps. Yum.
Or, if you’re like us and can never have enough cheese, opt for one of their toasties. The spicy pulled pork and pickled toasties are crisped to perfection and oozing with deliciousness.
For those on the go, the cabinet food has you covered with treats from Scratch Bakers and Daily Bread and freshly brewed Eight Thirty coffee.
When it comes to cocktails, Fitzroy Lounge Bar isn’t kidding around. Give the Blackforest Negroni a try—a wondrous blend of gin, Campari, sweet vermouth and mixed berries. Or, opt for the team’s top pick, the gin sour. Not one you want to miss, it features gin, Aperol, dry vermouth, pomegranate and mint.
Open seven days a week, whether you’re in for a cold one, nightcap or nibble, Fitzroy Lounge Bar has you covered.
