During these Arctic winter evenings, it’s dangerously easy to get a bit lazy about maintaining an active social life.

First, it’s the occasional Friday night in to catch up on Handmaid’s Tale, then you get home from work and make a hot Milo instead of a glass of wine. Next thing you know, you’ve eaten takeaway in bed watching ABC iView for four nights straight, wearing a pink, fluffy bunny-ear dressing gown that you firmly believe makes you look like a cute, quirky Peter Alexander model, but which your beloved reliably informs you, actually makes you look like Wilfred.

So before it gets to that stage (there’s tears and doors slamming, trust us, you don’t want to go there) we’re pointing you in the direction of the best things to do on the Sunshine Coast this week.

Wednesday 26 July

Wood Fire Grill Christmas in July

We all love an Aussie summer Christmas—chilled Prosecco, an early morning dip before the heat gets too unbearable, ham and prawns out on the river. So if you are baffled by those people who cook up a full hot Christmas roast in December, send them to Wood Fire Grill's Christmas in July to show them that this kind of food really belongs in the chilly winter months. Sip on mulled wine and enjoy roast pork and spiced pudding with crème anglaise. There’s four courses in total—all in Wood Fire Grill’s epic style.

Saturday 29 July

MOTO Roll In

Head to the Junction for a day of craft beers and custom motorbikes to drool over. The second MOTO Roll In kicks off at midday and will be serving up some of their famous street food and local brews until 5pm. If you’ve got a bike, bring it down, and if you just want to check out some of the amazing custom and classic wheels on the Coast, you can’t miss this. The first Roll In brought 50-60 bikes to the door, so this one is going to be even better.

Nambour Winter Jazz Fest

Our mates at The Bison Bar are among the team bringing us the smooth sounds of jazz, Brazilian beats, soul and funk, with the Nambour Winter Jazz Fest—an event with so much style you’ll be spoilt for choice. Nambour’s C-Square will be filled with market stalls, live music, cocktail bars and cafes, so you can pick up snacks as you venue-hop between the four main stages, or just chill and check out the pop-up performances in the square.

Sunday 30 July

Recovery Solbar

Gone a bit too hard over the weekend? Or just trying to dial down the tornado of mayhem that is your life? Solbar’s Recovery session has your solution. Curl up on a comfy couch, nurse your hangover with a Bloody Mary and chill out with tunes and laid back vibes. The crew are dishing up all day brekky, or even a Sunday roast if you’re up for it, which should give you just enough energy to start all over again…

Locale Aperitivo Hour

Winter afternoons are made for indoors—kicking back in the lounge with a glass of wine and some nibbles, catching up with your besties and looking sexy AF in the dim candlelight. Well, the team at Locale are putting on a special Aperitivo Hour just made for these kinds of days—you can choose five cicchetti (that’s Italian for ‘bar snacks’) for just $45. These dishes are just made for sharing and go dangerously well with a cocktail or a glass of Italian red. No pressure.

Rather sneak away to a little cabin than hit up a bunch of events? We've got you covered with these budget weekenders in the hinterland
