Soooo, I’ve got a confession to make. In addition to my day job with TUL, I live a clandestine double life. It involves a red seat, hot studio lights, Eddie McGuire and possibly (definitely) some crying on national television.

I kid you not, your very own TUL correspondent actually has a secret identity as a genu-wine, bona fide, prizewinning Trivia Queen.

So when I give you the low-down on the hottest trivia spots on the Coast, you better sit and listen bitchez, because I KNOW my stuff. Just like I know the author of the 2011 follow-up to Pride and Prejudice*…

The Basement

Nambour

If you’re up for something a bit more intimate than your traditional pub trivia night, rock up to The Basement to claim your stake in beer, prizes, giveaways and eternal (well, week-long) glory and bragging rights. It’s 18+ and you can be guaranteed that host, Drew, will get a bit cheeky while he tests the limits of your general knowledge. The last few weeks have been booked out, so make sure you get in early if you reckon you can give it a crack.

When: Thursdays at 7pm, bookings highly recommended

Goodbar

Mooloolaba

Goodbar have been dishing up trivia alongside their sliders and dawgs for over two years now, so we know they know their stuff. This isn’t for your hardcore, uber-competitive trivia tragics. This night is all about fun, and a few cruisy schooners of craft beer with your mates and some trivia on the side. But don’t get us wrong. You’ll definitely be thrown a couple of curly questions that will stretch your thinking.
Even though it kicks off at 7pm, we definitively recommend booking for about 6pm so you beat the rush for the kitchen!

When: Tuesdays at 7pm, bookings recommended

The Pocket Espresso

Caloundra

The crew at The Pocket Espresso love to give their locals a bit of love, and put on an epic trivia night once a fortnight for our mates in Caloundra. It’s a scientifically proven fact that chicken wings and beer improve your brain capacity, so chow down on The Pocket’s famous buffalo wings and a Balter XPA to give yourself a competitive advantage. #notafact But this night isn’t just about you left-brain thinkers. You’ll also get a chance to show your creative side, with questions that include building, moulding, drawing and creating. Yes, this night gives EVERYONE a chance to win!

When: Every second Thursday at 6.30pm

Peak Wine Bar

Maroochydore

If you like your trivia with a side of comedy, Callan is your man. He has an endless stash of weird facts, and we promise he’ll deliver them in a way that gives you a giggle. And you KNOW any night that kicks off with a round of ‘rock, paper, scissors’ with a free drink on the line is only going to get better from there. You can test your cocktail knowledge, guess songs played backwards and even try your art skills for those all-important bonus points. Oh, and Peak Wine Bar is serving up cheap beer and popcorn chicken which is sure to keep your creative juices flowing!

When: Wednesdays at 7pm

Bordertown

Noosaville

The only thing that can make a night of trivia better is the addition of tequila and tacos (although, if we’re honest, we know that tequila and tacos make any occasion better). Bordertown mixes up a boozy tequila punch special every Tuesday night, and plates up their famous $5 tacos to accompany their pop culture trivia quiz, with music, film and TV questions. Plus, there’ll also be a couple of questions especially designed to test our local knowledge! And because we’ve all got a mate who doesn’t know Port-au-Prince from the Little Prince, the Bordertown crew put on rounds of loteria—Mexican bingo! No trivia knowledge required!

When: Tuesdays at 7pm, bookings recommended
