5 Fabulous Things Happening On The Coast This Weekend

By Claire Plush - 05 May 2017

Eeeek! The first real, five-day work week in what feels like forever is almost on our doorstep. But not before we make the most of a fun-filled, food-fuelled weekend.

From chowing down on all of the tacos to getting your kit off while tending to the herbs (read: boys, stay away from the cactus), it sure is shaping up to be a ripper.

Here’s the best things to do on the Sunshine Coast this weekend.

Cinco De Mayo Celebrations | Friday, May 5

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with tacos and more tacos this Friday night. Gather your mates, start with a knock off margarita or three, and then get stuffed silly with delicious Mexican eats from the likes of Bordertown, La Canteena, Cholo, or Moto. From Noosa to Maroochydore, let this be your guide.

Sunshine Coast French Film Festival | Friday, May 5 to Monday, May 8

It’s never too late to pretend you’re French, just maybe don’t do it at this event… unless you want to get caught out. Held across three different locations, from Caloundra to Noosa, the Sunshine Coast French Film Festival will showcase six fabulous French films. There’s still tickets available, so jump over to the website to view the program.

World Naked Garden Day | Saturday, May 6

Don’t worry, we’re not going to ask you to get naked with your neighbours for a neighbourly working bee. But, we do think this is kind of an awesome day to celebrate, no? If you’re too shy to head into your backyard to mow the lawn (no pun intended), then what about pottering around in the nude and tending to those indoor plants you’re totally obsessed with? What a day to be alive!

Beer-Cha | Sunday, May 7

So you’ve heard of yum cha, yeah—well this is kind of like that but different, better even. Corbin’s, the crew that always do everything right, are hosting Beer-Cha this Sunday and there’s still seats available for the night session. Woot! For only 45 bucks you’ll get to feast on Corbin’s masterpieces and wash them down with matched beers from Stone & Wood. And because a good deed makes everything taste that much sweeter, $5 from each ticket will be donated to the Northern Rivers Flood Relief. Gah! We feel good just writing about this dining event.

To-Market-To-Market | All Weekend Long

Get your netted bags or totes ready to shop all things fresh food, bric-a-brac, local fashion, with the mandatory stops at food trucks in between, at the best markets on the Sunshine Coast. We’re #blessed with a smorgasbord of markets across the region, so check out our market guide and visit one that’s been on your to-do list for, like, ever.
