Oh, yes, Listers. First we had Lotus set up shop at The Galeries, and now dumpling master Eric Koh is upping Sydney’s dim sum game with his new pop up restaurant and bar, Work in Progress @erickoh. That’s right, you know it’s going to be an unstoppable force because his handle is already in the name, ready for Instagram action. Dumplings in Sydney just got serious.
The anticipation for the opening on Tuesday 8th September is palpable, because the Mr Wong chef boasts Michelin star experience and multiple restaurant awards. We’re not quite sure how anyone is going to get any work done with all this excellent food floating around mere minutes from the office. Until December 23rd, you’ll have to quietly pretend you’re looking at your emails, when really, you’re planning your next work lunch so you can sample as many different dumplings as possible. We know you.
Even though it’s only open from Monday to Friday (12pm-late), we’re pretty sure dim sum is the perfect way to inject a weekend feel into that lunch hour of yours. That said, the menu has been designed to be quick, so you don’t necessarily need to turn it into a long lunch (although…don’t mind if we do). Share some scallop and prawn shumai, duck spring rolls, and when the going gets tough, some drinks to help you settle back into your desk.
And if you feel that six weeks of Eric’s dumplings was a little too short for your liking, chin up. Eric will also be heading to Enmore later this year (yes, those Inner Westies seem to be getting everything these days). Exciting times lay ahead, which will also involve Papi Chulo’s Christopher Hogarth and Patrick Friesen at Queen Victoria Hotel, which will be relaunched for more Cantonese-inspired classics.
