The first weekend of February promises to be a big one—from flea markets to fireworks and live music, here are the highlights.
MCA Artbar: Nightcraft
Justin Shoulder and The Glitter Militia squad of performance artists and party makers invite you to Nightcraft— a psychedelic clubbing experience where you're asked to inhabit your alter ego. Presented by MCA ARTBAR, the evening will be a mix of ultra rave pop, art installations and an underground performance poster retrospective.
Surry Hills Markets
One of Sydney's best bric-a-brac markets, the Surry Hills Markets specialise in handmade, second-hand and recycled goods. The markets are held from 7:00am to 4:00pm on the first Saturday of every month, at Shannon Reserve on Crown Street.
Twilight at Taronga: The Whitlams
The open-air summer concert series returns to Taronga Zoo this February with ARIA Award winners The Whitlams. Bring your own picnic basket and rug for a wild night out under the stars.
Now in its fourth year, the Sun Run will see more than 10,000 entrants make the picturesque journey through Curl Curl, Freshwater and Queenscliff, finishing at Manly—all ages and fitness levels are welcome.
Chinese New Year Twilight Parade
Celebrating the Year of the Horse, this colourful parade kicks off at 8pm from Sydney Town Hall, weaving its way to Chinatown, and concluding with a spectacular fireworks display at Cockle Bay Darling Harbour. Look out for rocking horses, a brilliantly lit carousel, and dancing chess knights!
