We’ve teamed up with Peroni to bring you our What’s Trending hit list: your monthly guide to maximising life in the city. We’re cutting through the chatter and counting down our top 10 hottest new openings, events, and trending happenings in Sydney this month, so you won't miss a thing.

Has your Instagram been flooded with images of crazy milkshakes, heart stopping muffins and jealousy-inducing pizzas? Ours too. We’ve teamed up with Peroni to find out what is #trending in Sydney right now. From new cafes to cool events, here’s where you should be going and what you should be Instagramming this month. Let’s go!

#1 Authentic Napoli-style Pizza From The New Lucio Pizzeria

If we could eat pizza for every meal of the day, we would. Especially when it tastes as good as the pizzas coming out of the kitchen at the new Lucio Pizzeria in Zetland. With Peroni and mozzarella at the ready, this Italian restaurant is really bringing the goods to the booming south Sydney suburb of Zetland. Don’t miss the margherita (it’s the benchmark of a good pizza restaurant) and the classic speck and fontina pizza, which is salty, meaty and wonderfully cheesy. Bellissimo!

#2 Foodcraft Espresso’s Tella Ball Shake

You know how they say summer bodies are created in winter? Well Foodcraft Espresso in Erskineville has come into our lives and we’ve kissed our summer bod goodbye. Releasing mega milkshake the Tella Ball Shake—a Nutella milkshake with a Nutella filled donut on top into which a thick straw has been thrust, giving you the most Nutella-y experience you’ll ever have (minus the time when you may or may not have eaten a whole jar with a spoon).

#3 The View at Catalina

This classic Sydney restaurant is always a winner. The views alone make it one of the best places in Sydney to do a humble Insta’ brag eg. “just a casual lunch with my besties” alongside a picture of you holding a cold beer with the view in the background. Not just relying on their spectacular views, the crew at Catalina also make delicious food and cocktails, jetting this Sydney restaurant to the top of our #trending list.

#4 Italian Film Festival

Things are getting sophisticated at this year’s Italian Film Festival. Showing across three Palace Cinema venues, catch some of the best films to come out of Italy in recent times—32 stunning films to be exact. There’ll be laughter, tears, suspense and, of course, good old fashioned Italian passion over the course of the festival, which runs from 16th September to 11th October. This is a Sydney event not to miss if you’re craving a touch of la bella vita. For the full line up of films and more information, visit the website.

#5 The fanciest pub food at Bellevue

Bringing premium pub dining back into vogue, Bellevue, in the back streets of Paddington, has just re-opened with a whole new look. Gone are the beer-stained floors and run down interior, now the space is light, bright, airy and a whoooole lot more fancy. With Executive Chef James Metcalfe (ex Becasse, Etch and The Bourbon) in the kitchen, the menu will be some of the best pub food you’ll have in Sydney. Choose from one, two, or three courses, or go all out with a six-course tasting menu. There’s also a huge selection of wine available as well as bottles of international beers including Peroni, of course.

#6 Injected Muffins at Fika Swedish Kitchen

Injecting something delicious with something delicious to make something doubly delicious makes mathematical sense. The mathletes at Fika Swedish Kitchen know this and have enlisted James Sideris AKA Nutorious to concoct freshly baked muffins injected with the likes of mint choc ganache, butterscotch sauce, and salted caramel. These insanely moreish baked treats are sweet, internet-friendly and worth the extra time put in at the gym.

#7 Besser’s 6.30pm Risotto

With a menu and drinks list that encourages long dinners with your amici, new effortless Italian restaurant, Besser’s 6:30pm Risotto in Surry Hills brings the goods when it comes to solid Italian eats and drinks. The house cocktails are well worth sampling (their barrel aged negroni shouldn’t be missed) or keep it simple with a classic Peroni while you get stuck into their 6.30 risotto (which is actually served at 7pm). The risotto changes daily, so you never know what you’ll be served with, which is all part of the fun at this charming little Italian restaurant.

#8 BEAMS Arts Festival

For one night only, BEAMS Arts Festival takes over the laneways of Chippendale. Promising to be bigger than ever before, on Saturday 19th September, BEAMS sees art, music, installations and performances all come together in one awesome block party. With some of Chippendale’s best restaurants and bars serving up food and drink, this is one event you’ll want to add to your calendar. For more info, head here.

#9 The mozzarella bar at Café Sopra, Bridge Street

You had us at mozzarella bar, Café Sopra. The newest addition to the Fratelli Fresh family, the Bridge Street location brings the deliciousness into the CBD. Order some prosciutto, a beer, and more mozzarella than you can poke a breadstick at, and you’ll be in some kind of Italian paradise. The menu at Café Sopra is also laden with pizza and pasta too, so you’ll be rolling out in a state of cheesy and carby bliss.

#10 Piccolos from new Surry Hills café, Boscage

We love a new Sydney café as much as the next person, so we were pretty thrilled to see Boscage open up on Bourke Street. A friendly little café, picking up a piccolo in a bright yellow mug will be sure to brighten up your day (plus the caffeine always helps). There’s a range of fresh and tasty looking breakfast and lunch options to accompany your coffee order, so whether you take a seat and stay a while or take away, your belly’s in good hands, and you’ll be flush with Instagram fodder. And, really, isn’t that’s what brunch is all about?

We're beyond thrilled to partner with Peroni to bring you the What’s Trending series—our monthly guide to the hottest new openings, events, and Instagrammable happenings in Melbourne. Each edition of What’s Trending is researched and recommended by The Urban List, and served to you by Peroni—our go-to beer when we’re after something deliciously crisp to sip. Look out for our monthly Peroni What’s Trending hit-list for everything hot in your city right now, and while you’re working your way through the list, relax with a long cold Peroni at the hotspots marked with a ribbon. Buon Appetitio!
