Earlier this year, we announced the NGV’s secretive M.C. Escher exhibition plans and now here we are.
In honour of the upcoming Escher exhibition, Sofitel's lounge will serve up the most exclusive sweet treats in an Escher-esque black and white.
The high tea will feature jaw-dropping, Instagrammable delicacies like black sesame waffle cones, white chocolate opera slices with blackened coffee gel, and Escher’s Black Rose (raspberry sponge and blueberry jelly, rose and white chocolate mousse on hazelnut dacquoise).
You will also be able to sample lime meringues with ash choux profiteroles, alongside charcoal scones accompanied by fresh clotted cream, house-made jam, and lemon curd. And if it sounds like we just threw a bunch of French words at you for fun, rest assured that there will be an assortment of pronounceable finger sandwiches that you will be able to wash down with a glass of sparkling wine, Madame Flavour loose leaf teas and espresso coffee.
You can also upgrade to free-flowing sparkling wine for $65, replenished sweets and savouries for $70 and high tea with Taittinger Champagne for $75 per person.
The event will run on weekdays from 3 December until 31 December 2018. So whether or not you’re an Escher connoisseur, this highly creative and curated high tea might be worth a look if you’re in an artsy (or just hungry) mood.
