First of all, we’re sorry if you’re slightly triggered by the headline. We’ll be the first to admit that Sirena in chilli oil with microwave rice is a delicious, economical and time efficient meal for lunch.
Buuuuut, it’s technically our job to get you out, about and living your best life, so it’s time to put that oily tin of tuna down and listen up.
Our mates at legendary Thai restaurant, Long Chim (which btw, means to 'come, try and taste'), have launched their brand new summer lunch special.
From 12-2:30pm every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, you can tuck into a mouth-watering array of dishes along with a vino or beer for just $25. Considering a lone bevvie these days will set you back around 12 bucks, we thought this was worth writing home (*to you) about.
Head Chef David Thompson is an absolute expert in all things Thai, even publishing a handful of cookbooks, so you know what they’re serving up is going to be delish. What’s even better is that everything on the selected menu you will also find on their regular lunch and dinner menus, so you know the affordable price still means top quality dishes.
Not to mention they also have stunning terrace dining with views of the Yarra River and Crown Riverwalk. Because let’s be real, eating lunch at your desk is depressing! Ditch your date with your computer screen and take full advantage of the views, service and atmosphere (all included in the $25).
For The Light Luncher
Go the Green Papaya Salad with chillies, peanuts and dried prawns or the Glass Noodle Salad with minced pork, prawns and squid. What’s even better is if you don’t want an alcoholic drink (we applaud you), they have a range of tantalising Thai sodas to choose from. Our pick of the pack is the pomegranate and watermelon (we feel refreshed just typing it).
For The Food Envy Sufferer
If you’re the type to lament for hours if you don’t have the best, most droolworthy meal on the table, then opt for the Fried Rice with roast duck or the Hot and Sour Soup of Pork Ribs with grilled chillies and coriander roasted rice. These bad boys sell like hot cakes, so you can breathe easy knowing you won’t be suffering from food envy.
For The Thai Food Lover
If what you crave is a good old-fashioned Thai feed, then tuck into the chicken Green Curry with Thai eggplant or the Stir Fried Beef with onions and dried chilli. With David Thompson at the helm of these creations you know they’re going to taste authentic, fragrant and mind-blowingly delish, especially washed down with a glass of wine.
